Players Association recordings brought in session musicians such as Larry Coryell, Joe Farrell, David Sanborn, James Mtume, Mike Mandel and others. Whilst writing some of their own songs, the group mainly focused on covers of soul, funk and disco tunes.
They became more disco-funk with jazz overtones, although the Association occasionally detoured into instrumental jazz-pop and quiet storm music.
Their two biggest hits were "Disco Inferno", a cover of The Trammps tune, and their own composition, "Turn The Music Up!"

If there's a cure for this
I don't want it
Don't want it
If there's a remedy
I'll run from it
From it
Never let it out of my mind
'Cause I love you
I've got the sweetest hangover
I don't wanna get over
Sweetest hangover
Yeah, I don't wanna get over
I don't wanna get
I don't wanna get...over
Ooh, I don't need no cure
I don't need no cure
I don't need no cure
Sweet lovin'
Sweet, sweet, sweet, sweet love
Sweet, sweet love
Sweet, sweet, sweet, sweet love
Don't call a doctor
Don't call her momma
Don't call her preacher
No, I don't need it
I don't want it
Sweet love, I love you
Sweet love, need love
If there's a cure for this
I don't want it
I don't want it no
If there's a cure for this
I don't need it
Sweet, sweet, sweet, sweet love
Sweet, sweet, sweet, sweet love
Sweet, sweet, sweet, sweet love
Sweet, sweet, sweet, sweet love
The lyrics to The Players Association's "Love Hangover" express the overwhelming feeling of being in love and the inability to move on from it. The singer is so consumed by the sweetness of the love they have for their partner that they don't want to find a cure or remedy for the feeling, and they are willing to endure the "sweetest hangover" as a result. The repetitiveness of the phrases "Sweet, sweet love" and "I don't want it" emphasize the urgency and sincerity of the singer's emotions.
The lines "Don't call a doctor, don't call her momma, don't call her preacher" suggest that the singer is not looking for outside assistance to deal with their love hangover. The singer is confident in their feelings towards their partner and does not want any outside influence to change that. The lyrics focus solely on the love between the singer and their partner, without any complications or obstacles.
Overall, "Love Hangover" is a declaration of intense love and devotion towards a significant other, and the refusal to let go of those feelings. The repetition of the phrase "Sweet, sweet love" conveys the incessant thought of their partner.
