This is like a group project, Sarah is the quiet one who did the bulk of the work but doesn't get much recognition and then Zedd is the popular kid that does the bare minimum but gets the most recognition lmao

@Dion Isaiah I mean she could become an artist-writer same with the other producers but they like to be in the background and not be in the "spotlight" so Zedd naturally get more attention because he is one of the artist of the song and people usually doesn't check credits unless they are really interested in who wrote and produced it.

@Delaney 12 Without Zedd's work it would not have sounded as good. Zedd is an amazing producer, him tracking and mixing the vocals and different stems definitely shaped the song. You can also hear he did a ton of work on the synths and put like his 'Zedd'-magic on it.

Pop-tracks like these sound as good because all the different parts do their part the absolute best. And of course, Zedd is the most famous so the label will put his name at first.

@Mark Lastmark you're confusing hard or slow work with efficiency. Some of the best songs with just a few strings and lyrics were written within 10 minutes and many duds have taken months to do. How long one takes has nothing to do with who contributed most to a song or its success.

Jason Gunn-Davis He is right though, the monsters and the strangerz and Grey would have spent hours working on all of this while a lyricist can write the lyric in 15 minutes. People put too much emphasis on lyricists when it comes to songwriting. Watch the video where oak feller shows how he made Demi Lovatos sorry not sorry it's so intricate and takes so much time while Sean Douglas wrote the lyrics fairly quickly

It's not exactly uncommon in pop music for a song to be one artist's release with half a dozen (or more) other writers/producers that did a lot of the work though.

No one really said it wasn’t though...

If Sarah wasn’t okay with not receiving attention she could’ve pulled a Julia Michaels and refused to give away the song. And it’s not like Zedd was credited as the only one on the song, anyway. Without the Zedd name it’s unlikely it could’ve pulled as much attention as it did. So kudos on Zedd for taking a song that wasn’t going to credit Sarah anyway and agreeing to co-produce it and as a result basically give the track a boost into top 40 radio and this getting Sarah a TON of money.

Love the song. From her first demo though, it’s already a great song with really strong vocals. It’s THERE. If Sarah’s musical talent (and other songwriters like her) is taken out of the l-o-n-g process shown here, all the other “producers” are working in burger joints. I’d also love to know what the final split was. Should be: Sarah 85% The Machine 15%. Bet it’s the opposite.
