The Problemaddicts are a 5-man squad of emcees assembled by and including Executive Producer Tone, Vorheez (formerly of Lords of tha Fly), Force (also of The Alchemystics), Black Buddha (multiple freestyle tournament winner and former WSKB DJ), and 1ne Man sound (also of Lyke Minds).
After crossing paths in local venues across western MA for years, these solo artists finally combined their diverse and unique styles. The Problemaddicts have played over 150 shows as a group since releasing their debut album, "The First Step" in September 2007. This 16 track LP, primarily produced by Tone and DJ Theory, features underground giants Planet Asia and Masta' Ace and received international recognition. Upon its ’09 re-release it ranked in CMJ’s top 40 for 3 weeks.
In the summer of 2008 the group released their second album, “The Dark Side Of Oz”, a 12 track mash up remix of Pink Floyd’s “The Dark Side Of The Moon” and soundtrack from “The Wizard Of Oz”. It entered the charts as the 3 add (37th overall) in mid December on CMJ, and rose 23 slots to 14 in its second week on the charts. The album peaked at 10, and stayed in the Top 40 for 10 weeks.
The Problemaddicts are currently hard at work in the studio on a mixtape prequel to their untitled 3rd full length album. Look for the mixtape and following album releases, fall/winter of '09.
The Problemaddicts have toured with artists such as Tash (of the Alkaholiks), Akil the MC (of Jurassic 5) and Planet Asia. They have also shared stages with acts like Dead Prez, The Beatnuts, Little Brother, KRS-1, Living Legends, Mos Def, Soulive, De La Soul, Akrobatik & Mr. Lif, The Clipse, Addison Groove Project, J-Live, Ghostface Killah, Blackalicious, Rahzel, GZA, MOP, Pharaoh Monch, Sizzla, Brother Ali, Sean Price, Special Teamz. The list goes on...
The Problemaddicts won "Best Hip Hop” 07 & ‘08 in The Valley Advocate's reader's poll, as well as the 1 Hip Hop Song (August, ‘07) and 1 Alternative Hip Hop Song (February, ’08) on OurStage.com. They recently were featured on AOL radio, after winning the 65th HoodHype.com episode’s viewer vote. The act was one of Urb.com’s “Next 1000”.

QUOTABLES
Pink Floyd + Wizard of Oz + Top tier producer + Five of the best MCs today = I suck at math but holy fuck.
-Motumbo (pbskl.blogspot.com)
Let's face it—most live hip-hop sucks; it's awkward, stereotypical and often lyrically inferior to an NPR food review set to jerky klezmer beats. In contrast, The Problemaddicts' game has yet to go stale; in fact, I think they're just beginning to approach the top of it.
-Thom Sturm, Valley Advocate
Flowing like water through a river, these dudes trade rhymes back and fourth effortlessly over the grimy backdrops- something that's sorta reminiscent of the now defunct Jurassic 5 in their prime.
-URB.com
the five-man squad blend their unique styles to create a sound reminiscent of the days of two turntables and microphone, b-boy crews and graffiti.
-Ourstage.com Snapshots
These cats are obviously well seasoned performers who know how to drop in and out of one anothers verses smoothly, write good hooks and make solid joints.
-ProPayne, EOW, NYC
It happens every year. There is one album that I slept on, didn't give enough spins to until it was too late, or just straight up didn't hear that I hear the next year and realize it was good enough to be in my year end list. That album this year is Problemaddicts "The Darkside of Oz".
-Trav, Wake Your Daugher Up
Production, handled by Tone and DJ Theory, is dark and fantasy-like. The rhymes are creative, the members' flows are on-point at all times, overall this is a great album, and it makes The Problemaddicts one to watch in the future.

Verse One:
It began with the end of the dissipation of energy, simultaneous with
the final phases of entropy. Incidentally the entire universe folded,
imploded, exploded, marking the start of time as we know it and
propelling time, quantum mechanics fell into motion; expansion of
fundamental, elemental components. Supernovas fracturing stars into
fragments; chaotic debris organized by gravity's attraction.
Third rock in solar orbit storming, scorching at the core, order in the
form of an organism is born to a thunderous baby planet, volcanic rainy
condition; chemical consistency requisite for existence. (One)

Chorus:
Born from the light, soaring into infinity; we move as one entity,
celebrating the symphony. Elevated mentally, manifested it physically;
speaking universally, calculating the chemistry.

Verse Two:
Intergalactic masses grasped and attracted by gravity, rapidly planetary
activity changed drastically. Water clashes with fire, fire engulfs the
land; land crashes back into water, turning glass into sand. Tremendous
clouds made hurricanes cause a massive rain fall to cool the hot lakes
of lava and make the sea stay calm. Then a planetesimal tried to pass
us, hit the northern hemisphere to knock the planet slightly off its
axis.
The gravitational field managed to hold and keep our gases, and an
oxygen atmosphere formed in eras pre-Jurassic. Now we have our only moon
through the rest of our night and from a small spectrum of light came a
speckle of life. Single-celled organisms like amoebas became
multi-celled and evolved into small underwater creatures. With eyes,
organs, teeth and early animal features, they grew arms and legs and
walked the land of Pangaea.
[chorus]
The Problemaddicts's song Genesis presents a comprehensive overview of the origins of the universe and the beginning of life on Earth. The lyrics reveal a deep understanding of scientific concepts such as entropy, quantum mechanics, and gravity, and describe how these fundamental laws and forces contributed to the formation of our planet and the evolution of life. The first verse notes how the universe began with the simultaneous dissipation of energy and final phases of entropy, leading to the implosion and explosion of matter that marked the start of time. This energetic event set quantum mechanics into motion, propelling the expansion of fundamental components and creating the conditions for the formation of stars, including supernovas that fragmented into chaotic debris which was later organized by gravity.
In the second verse, the lyrics explore the planetary activity that led to the formation of life on Earth. The interplay of water and fire is described, as well as the impact of planetesimal which affected the planet's axis but did not hold it. Then we see how the gravitational field managed to hold and keep our gases and an oxygen atmosphere formed in pre-Jurassic eras, leading to the development of life on Earth. Single-celled organisms like amoebas became multi-celled and evolved into small underwater creatures. These early aquatic animals developed arms and legs, allowing them to walk on land as the continents shifted and formed Pangaea.

Calculat-lating the chemi-chemistry
Speaking universally, calculating the chemical reactions
Speaking universally, un-universally
Speaking about universal and scientific concepts in a unique way
It began with the end of the dissipation of energy, simultaneous with
the final phases of entropy.
The universe started when energy stopped spreading out and things started breaking down.
Incidentally the entire universe folded,
imploded, exploded, marking the start of time as we know it
and propelling time, quantum mechanics fell into motion;
expansion of fundamental, elemental components.
The universe was created through a complex series of events that included collapsing and exploding, leading to the creation of basic elements and the start of time as we understand it.
Supernovas fracturing stars into
fragments; chaotic debris organized by gravity's attraction.
Stars exploded and broke apart, but the resulting fragments were held together by gravity.
Third rock in solar orbit storming,
scorching at the core, order in the
form of an organism is born to a thunderous baby planet, volcanic rainy
condition; chemical consistency requisite for existence.
Earth was created through a series of explosive events and gradually developed the necessary chemical conditions for life to exist.
(One) self-replication, (two) cell respiration, (three) for the mutagenic
ultraviolet radiation from the sun.
All praises to the god who takes the
form of Yahweh, Jehovah and Allah, word is...
Life forms evolved through self-replication, cellular respiration, and adapting to the harsh radiation from the sun. The artist acknowledges and gives praise to different deities.
Born from the light, soaring into infinity;
we move as one entity, celebrating the symphony.
Elevated mentally, manifested it physically;
speaking universally, calculating the chemistry.
Life on Earth originated from energy and evolved into complex beings capable of understanding science and working together.
Intergalactic masses grasped and attracted by gravity,
rapidly planetary
activity changed drastically.
Objects in space are pulled together by gravity, which creates significant changes on different planets.
Water clashes with fire, fire engulfs the
land; land crashes back into water, turning glass into sand.
Tremendous
couds made hurricanes cause a massive rain fall to cool the hot lakes
of lava and make the sea stay calm.
Natural events like fires and storms have shaped Earth's geography and made it habitable.
Then a planetesimal tried to pass
us, hit the northern hemisphere to knock the planet slightly off its
axis.
A celestial object hit Earth and changed its rotation slightly, leading to the creation of distinct seasons.
The gravitational field managed to hold and keep our gases,
and an
oxygen atmosphere formed in eras pre-Jurassic.
Earth's gravity kept its atmosphere in place and eventually led to the creation of oxygen.
Now we have our only moon
through the rest of our night and from a small spectrum of light came a
speckle of life.
The moon is Earth's only natural satellite and the light from it may have helped support early life on the planet.
Single-celled organisms like amoebas became
multi-celled and evolved into small underwater creatures.
With eyes,
organs, teeth and early animal features, they grew arms and legs and
walked the land of Pangaea.
Organisms evolved into more complex creatures with distinct features such as eyes and limbs, eventually leading to the diverse lifeforms that exist on Earth today.
