Here comes Santa Claus!
Right down Santa Claus Lane!
Vixen and Blitzen and all his reindeer
are pulling on the reins.
Bells are ringing, children singing;
All is merry and bright.
Hang your stockings and say your prayers, 'Cause Santa Claus comes tonight.
Here comes Santa Claus!
Right down Santa Claus Lane!
He's got a bag that is filled with toys
for the boys and girls again.
Hear those sleigh bells jingle jangle,
What a beautiful sight.
Jump in bed, cover up your head,
'Cause Santa Claus comes tonight.
The Ramsey Lewis Trio's version of "Here Comes Santa Claus" is a cheerful and upbeat rendition of a classic Christmas carol. The song is about Santa Claus arriving and bringing joy and presents to children. The lyrics describe Santa's arrival down Santa Claus Lane, with his trusty reindeer Vixen and Blitzen leading the way. The sound of sleigh bells can be heard as the song describes the excitement of children waiting for Santa's arrival. The song emphasizes the joy and magic that comes with the holiday season, as well as the importance of being good in order to receive presents from Santa.
The lyrics of "Here Comes Santa Claus" were written by Gene Autry and Oakley Haldeman in 1947. Autry, who was known as the "Singing Cowboy" and had already released a number of hit Christmas songs, wanted to write a song that would capture the spirit of the holiday season. The song was recorded by Autry the same year and became an instant hit.
Interestingly, the lyrics of the song were inspired by a real-life Santa Claus named Ed Uffelman, who would ride his horse down Hollywood Boulevard each Christmas season while dressed as Santa. Autry saw Uffelman's procession and was inspired to write a song about Santa's arrival.
