I Believe
The Rascals Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

(I believe, I believe, I believe, I believe)
(I believe, I believe, I believe, I believe).

Love, your magic is everywhere
Sweet vibrations just fill the air, mm yeah.

Bright star that’s shinin’ in your diamond eyes
Lights up my each and every day
When one heart finds another on the road of life
Time stops and joy takes you away.

Love, your magic is everywhere
Peace vibrations are always there.

The warm sunshine reminds me of your gentle touch
I see your smile in every hill, every tree
The secret garden of my heart belongs to you alone
Like a flower was meant for the bee.

(I believe, I believe, I believe, I believe) oh child
(I believe, I believe, I believe, I believe) oh.

In each beat of my heart I can hear your name
I feel love with every breathe that I take
With your love I’ve become awake
In a wondrous and a beautiful place.

It’s love, your magic is everywhere
Those sweet vibrations just fill the air.

When I see a flower or a tree
I can see your smiling face in every thing that I see
In the mountain, in the stream.

It’s love, your magic is everywhere
Those sweet vibrations just fill the air.

One of my faves from the first LP, Eddie always had the best voice!!

Eight to the Bar

Yes! Although the 1st is a Rock'n'Roll/Rhythm & Blues LP, 2 ballads, including 'I Believe' stand out, I think.

"I Believe" was performed on a December 15, 1952 episode of the musical variety television show starring singer and actress Jane Froman. The series premiered on October 18, 1952. It was later known as "The Jane Froman Show." This episode is particularly noteworthy for the first performance of the song, "I Believe," which was written for Jane Froman at her request. Who later perfomed it with Chorus and Orchestra conducted by Sid Feller. Release date: January 1953. There were 15 adaptations to this song and 192 versions of it. In my humble opinion..The Young Rascals did the best version of this song ever recorded.

Totally agree!

The BEST recording of a GREAT song!!!

This song was the one of the most requested songs no matter what band I was singing with

Gary Rosen

Grew up to these guys. Great music.

I was 9yo when these guys hit it big, but because my family sorta knew them (Felix's dad was our dentist), I never really paid attention to any of it. But then, a couple years later, when I saw Eddie sing this song, I fell madly in love with him - just like every other teenage girl in the country - lol! After a lifetime of experience, with a career as a music industry professional and married to a very talented musician for over 3o years, I look back at this and have to applaud Felix for his insight and ability to see the bigger picture. Eddie did nothing but add sex appeal to the band. He wasn't a musician at all - he didn't play an instrument. And, quite frankly, Felix could have sung this song as well, if not better, than Eddie did. Felix sang lead on most of their hits.

Raphael Falzarano

Non-sense! Eddie co-wrote with Felix Cavaliere. Ask yourself why would Eddie be chosen to sing and play with The Young Rascals/Rascals? Did you ever see the Rascals live back when they were a solid band making hit records? If you did not then your comment is an insult to The Rascals and Eddie and David Brigati and far fetched. If you care enough? look back at The Rascals history/biography.

Phyl Buscemi

This song by the Rascals makes me cry!
