The Rascals Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I'd fold the space between me and you
I'll fly right into the sun
C'est la vie
'Cause the stars look so much brighter with you
It feel like summertime, this little light of mine
I tried to tell 'em it gets harder in the wintertime
And then remember how they look when you was by my side
And if you love me today, won't you love me in Spain
We a thousand miles away and now it's all my fault
And if you love me how you say then I can take you to space
We could find a universe and make a home 'til the end of time
If I could change the world
I'd fold the space between me and you
I'll fly right into the sun
C'est la vie
'Cause the stars look so much brighter with you
Now all the stars get brighter
Drop my sun visor
In the middle of the night
Where I'm always driving
Now don't blink
Wish you was right by my side
With me rollin', we rollin', I'm blinded
I'm glidin' off
Tryna fill the space in between us, love
I'm jumping through these planes tryna get to ya
I don't wanna waste not another day
'Cause I can feel the time just keep slipping away
If I could change the world
I'd fold the space between me and you
I'll fly right into the sun
C'est la vie
'Cause the stars look so much brighter with you
'Cause the stars look so much brighter with you
'Cause the stars look so much brighter with you
The Rascal's song "See" is about longing for someone who is far away, and the desire to be with them even if it means changing the world or flying into the sun. The lyrics express the idea that being with someone you love makes the world a brighter and more beautiful place. The singer reminisces about how it feels like summertime when that person is present, but also acknowledges that the stars won't always shine and that love requires effort and commitment.
The line "If I could change the world, I'd fold the space between me and you" speaks to the desire to overcome distance and find a way to be physically close to the person you love. The line "I'll fly right into the sun" can be interpreted in different ways, but could suggest a willingness to take risks or even sacrifice one's well-being for the sake of love. The overall message of the song is that love is worth pursuing and that being with the person you love can make everything else in life seem brighter and more meaningful.

One of the greatest powerpop/psychedelic/punk drumming songs of all time...Dino was so creative, unique and brilliant...check out all the interesting offbeats and bouncing back and forth in time signatures near the end...one of history's greatest rockers. R.I.P.

This is primo late hippie era rock....always wanted someone to cover it...although NO ONE could touch Felix's vocal...IMO one of the most driving relentless songs they ever did...

The Rascals definitely evolved their sound but didn’t forget their roots . This song was a successful merger of the old and new for that time . Many bands tried to evolve and absorb some of that hippie psychedelia and many failed !

Agreed Mr. martianshoes. This track touched me when it came out. I bought the 45 for ~99 cents back then. (which I could not afford) Peace

Heard this when I was teenager and found it very puzzzling and didn't embrace it immediately. Now I realize the Rascals . at this point , had gotten more sophisticated and were breaking the mold. Excellent piece not just a good song. I think this might have laid the groundwork for Exile on Main Street. The Rascals are playing it loose but remaining tight and in control at the same time. Only people who know the tricks of the trade and have mastered them can do this.

"Echoes of the Everland / Discover who you really am"
One of the greatest anthems to come out of the noblest parts of that era. Timeless, in its own way... and maybe in more ways than one.
