The Rascals Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

If I could change the world
I'd fold the space between me and you
I'll fly right into the sun
C'est la vie
'Cause the stars look so much brighter with you

It feel like summertime, this little light of mine
I tried to tell 'em it gets harder in the wintertime
The stars won't always shine, I'm lookin' to the skies
And then remember how they look when you was by my side

And if you love me today, won't you love me in Spain
We a thousand miles away and now it's all my fault
And if you love me how you say then I can take you to space
We could find a universe and make a home 'til the end of time

If I could change the world
I'd fold the space between me and you
I'll fly right into the sun
C'est la vie
'Cause the stars look so much brighter with you

Now all the stars get brighter
Drop my sun visor
In the middle of the night
Where I'm always driving
Now don't blink
Wish you was right by my side
With me rollin', we rollin', I'm blinded
I'm glidin' off

Tryna fill the space in between us, love
I'm jumping through these planes tryna get to ya
I don't wanna waste not another day
'Cause I can feel the time just keep slipping away

If I could change the world
I'd fold the space between me and you
I'll fly right into the sun
C'est la vie
'Cause the stars look so much brighter with you

'Cause the stars look so much brighter with you
'Cause the stars look so much brighter with you

I remember buying this single back in the summer of '69 not knowing this song was better than the A-side. To me, it's the best rocker the Rascals ever.

@dallasheltzell

I'm 72 and still rockin' to this one at full blast in 2024. A glorious, hard-driving psychedelic feast.

@x-roytube2218

One of the greatest powerpop/psychedelic/punk drumming songs of all time...Dino was so creative, unique and brilliant...check out all the interesting offbeats and bouncing back and forth in time signatures near the end...one of history's greatest rockers. R.I.P.

Too bad this wasn’t a bigger hit. I played it over and over. I saw the Rascals in concert in 1969, to my absolute joy they did this!

@melamineflorentine8134

I guess by 1969 the competition was too fierce. THIS song should be much better known. Great stuff. The band was just before its breakup... this is one band that should have stuck around awhile and really integrated all the member's ambitions while seeing their core strengths. Hendrinx was effusive in his praise of the Rascals.. he compared their direction favorably to that of the Beatles during the Pepper era. He just loved the way their music FELT!

@pawthecowboycorgi

@@melamineflorentine8134 1969 was tough, any other year many songs would have been #1. Shondells, CCR, Three Dog Night, 5th Dimension, Cowsills, Archies crowded out a lot of bands from making #1. Elvis, Stones and The Beatles didn't help either. That Zegar and Evans also crowded out #1 for 5 weeks.

@@pawthecowboycorgiThat is part of what Bryan Adam’s Summer of 69 is about !
