Into was released in 2001 and went double platinum in Finland debuting at #1. The first single F-F-F-Falling was #1 in Finland during three months in early 2001. The second single Chill reached the #2 place in Finland. The Rasmus toured Scandinavia and Europe along with HIM and Roxette that year to promote the album. The band finally gained international fame with their 2003 album Dead Letters which went gold and platinum in several countries, accompanied with the single In the Shadows which reached #1 in a number of countries. iTunes Music Store offered the track as one of its free singles, a positive public response prompted many listeners to buy the rest of the album. Guilty was released in 2004 and was the last single of the album. The three other singles; In My Life, First Day of My Life and Funeral Song also received mostly favourable reviews and response. During the 2004 Reading Festival in England, the band was pelted with plastic bottles filled with urine and mud (an act reserved for the worst band on the bill each year) until they eventually walked offstage when immediate medical attention was required for Eero's eye.

Feeling untied and free
No more crying on the phone
No more slavery
End of the misery, I'm breaking free
Since you've been gone
Just wanna shout, 'cause I'm able to breath
Since you've been gone
I've been free
Since we crashed and fell apart
We've been history
Since we trashed this dying love
No more agony
End of the misery, I'm breaking free
Since you've been gone
Things have come so clear to me
Just wanna shout, 'cause I'm able to breath
Since you've been gone
I've been free
(guitar solo)
Since you've been gone
Things have come so clear to me
Just wanna shout, 'cause I'm able to breath
Since you've been gone
Things have come so clear to me
Just wanna shout, 'cause I'm able to breath
Since you've been gone
I've been free
Since you've been gone I've been'
I've been free'
Things have come clear to me'
I am free'
Since you've been gone, I've been alone
The song "Since You've Been Gone" is a powerful anthem dedicated to the end of a relationship. The opening lines show that the singer feels untied and free now that their lover has left them. They no longer cry on the phone or feel enslaved by their partner. The chorus repeats the lyrics "since you've been gone" to emphasize the positive effect that the end of the relationship has had on the singer's life. The lines "things have come so clear to me, just want to shout" show that the singer has had a revelation since their lover left them. They are able to breathe easier now that they are free from the burden of the relationship.
The line "Since we crashed and fell apart, we've been history" refers to the end of the relationship. The use of the word "crashed" suggests that the end of the relationship was sudden and intense, like a car crash. The phrase "we've been history" suggests that the relationship is in the past and is now over. The lines "no more agony, end of the misery, I'm breaking free" are repeated throughout the song to emphasize the idea that the singer is now free from the pain and agony of the relationship.
Overall, "Since You've Been Gone" is a song about the liberating feeling that comes with the end of a relationship. The lyrics express the relief and clarity that the singer feels after the breakup.
