In 2009, guitarists Dan Wright and George Harris began establishing their vision of a band that combines contemporary heavy music with powerful melodic vocals to create an epic and unique sound.
After writing their first album, they began searching for likeminded musicians to join the band and make their vision a reality.
Taking on bass player Matt Cox in 2012, with vocalist Michael Burrough and drummer Jai Patel joining in early 2013, the line up was complete and ready to take their music to the stage.
THE RAVEN AGE released their debut EP on July 5.

Alyssa, We are the ones who have been seeking hard for the Truth, we're the ones who really wanted to show the world another way of being a Human on Earth... Because of our gentle souls coming from elsewhere.
But they hate us, for absolutely no known nor admitted reason, at their first glance at us. So many of them would not let me come inside of their homes, even after a neat shower, and my biggest question some years ago was 'wtf, what's wrong with me, am i smelling bad???' So many times I saw some parents quickly taking their children in their arms like if I was some kind of threat, so many people changing their way just to avoid crossing me. Such mistrust, defiance, and hostility always!
God the good father was wrong, we were never meant to live together in this furious zoo.
I wish we knew from the beginning of this game that everything was in vain, all doomed to fail, always, because it seems that there is nothing we could do to gather them, to unite and to fight for our rights... and i believe you know it, the gap between us is way too wide. They're always looking for our presumed evil intentions, they can't figure out that our behavior is inspired by this need we have for really loving, for dancing this life, summoning peace and joy, invoking harmony, living our lives with honesty and integrity, and wanting nothing for us but the better good for the world.

This is my favourite song.... I learnt that they based it from an anime film of the same title, so I watched it.... powerful, moving and made me appreciate how great the song is, their writing and production, vocals and the emotional journey that takes place.
I know it's based upon a war torn country and the serve affects but as its 2020 and we are all living in this nightmare... made be feel all the souls out there, hurting, scared, dying, faded away... hoping that we can heal, unite and rebuild. And that we get to see the fireflies light to guide out of these dark times.
Dont worry I am okay, I am just a very emotional person, I admit I cry at tearjerkers which include some disney films lol.... this song has reduced me to tears but also gives me hope too.
Anyway I would highly recommend the film, it's a masterpiece, just like their album.
Hope you enjoy the song... it's so different from all the other tracks from their album, which makes it their most unique todate. But there album is incredible.

This song was written about a story, a pseudo-autobiography, of the same name, originally written by Akiyuki Nosaka, a survivor of the Kobe Fire Bombing, and adapted by Studio Ghibli into one of its most well-known films, again of the same name. Notably, the story covers tragedy, in which he lost his younger sister to sickness, his adoptive father to the fire bombing, and his younger adoptive sister, Keiko, to malnutrition. The story was written as an apology to Keiko, regarding her passing.
