The name, The Raveonettes, is a direct reference to The Ronettes, and Buddy Holly's song Rave On!.
Their songs juxtapose the structural and chordal simplicity of 50s and 60s rock with intense electric instrumentation, driving beats and often dark lyrical content, similar to another of the band's influences, The Velvet Underground. Altogether, they sound very much like a slightly more melodic version of The Jesus and Mary Chain.

On April 4th, 2011, they released "Raven in the Grave", a nine-track studio album with Vice Records. It's their 5th studio album.
From their site bio:
“I think we have finally hit on something quite important and different for this album,” explains Sune. “This is the first Raveonettes album we've done which doesn't feature the signature Raveonettes surf drumbeat. None of the tunes have any real sunshine to them. It’s all very un-Rave.”
“It has a mood of ethereal defiance” Sharin adds. “It’s dark but not bleak, like the single minded determination caused by crisis that is not quite hope but just as powerful. It’s the perfect winter soundtrack just in time for spring”.
07- bowels of the beast
The Raveonettes Lyrics

We'll find you in the bowels of the beast
Yeah we'll find you and take you home tonight
Come fuck with the Vegas lights tonight
Come fuck with the Vegas lights tonight
We'll find you terror in your eyes
Yeah we'll find you and take you home tonight
The Raveonettes' song "07- Bowels of the Beast" seems to be a dark and cynical commentary on the excesses and emptiness of the Las Vegas lifestyle. The invitation to "drink with the Vegas stars tonight" is laced with irony and sarcasm, as the subsequent lines suggest that this is not a glamorous or desirable experience. Instead, the singer promises to "find you in the bowels of the beast", which could be interpreted as a reference to the seedy underbelly of Las Vegas or the corrupt nature of the entertainment industry. In either case, it's clear that the promises of excitement and adventure that Vegas offers are ultimately hollow and unfulfilling. The repetition of "we'll find you and take you home tonight" adds to the sense of danger and vulnerability, as if the singer is warning the listener not to get too caught up in the Vegas hype and to be wary of the darker aspects of the city.
Overall, "07- Bowels of the Beast" is a haunting and atmospheric song that captures the contradictions and complexities of Las Vegas. The Vegas lights that are so enticing at first glance become terrifying and oppressive, and the glamour and excitement of the city are shown to be hollow and fleeting. The listener is invited to partake in this world of excess and decadence, but the sinister undertones suggest that it might not be worth the cost.
