The name, The Raveonettes, is a direct reference to The Ronettes, and Buddy Holly's song Rave On!.
Their songs juxtapose the structural and chordal simplicity of 50s and 60s rock with intense electric instrumentation, driving beats and often dark lyrical content, similar to another of the band's influences, The Velvet Underground. Altogether, they sound very much like a slightly more melodic version of The Jesus and Mary Chain.

On April 4th, 2011, they released "Raven in the Grave", a nine-track studio album with Vice Records. It's their 5th studio album.
From their site bio:
“I think we have finally hit on something quite important and different for this album,” explains Sune. “This is the first Raveonettes album we've done which doesn't feature the signature Raveonettes surf drumbeat. None of the tunes have any real sunshine to them. It’s all very un-Rave.”
“It has a mood of ethereal defiance” Sharin adds. “It’s dark but not bleak, like the single minded determination caused by crisis that is not quite hope but just as powerful. It’s the perfect winter soundtrack just in time for spring”.

Come on and love my dirty soul
Wanna dance with black tonight
Come on honey and make it right
Come on, Come on
Wanna dance with Rock'n'roll
Come on and kiss my dirty soul
Come on honey lets attack the night
Come on, Come on, Come on, Come on
Wanna dance with Rock n'roll
Come on and love my dirty soul
Wanna dance with black tonight
Come on honey and make it right
Come on, Come on, Come on, Come on
The Raveonettes's song "Wanna Dance" is a song about rock and roll, passion, and dancing. The lyrics invite the listener to let go and immerse themselves in the dirty and edgy world of rock music. The singer calls out to their lover, urging them to join in the wild and reckless spirit of rock and roll.
The phrase "Wanna dance with Rock'n'roll" is repeated throughout the song, inviting the listener to join in the passionate and energetic dance that characterizes rock and roll. The lyrics also touch on the darker side of rock and roll, as the singer invites their lover to dance with "black" and "cool" tonight. This could be interpreted as a reference to the dangerous and rebellious nature of rock music.
The chorus of the song, which repeats the phrase "Come on honey and make it right," reinforces the idea that the spirit of rock and roll can heal and transform the soul. The song speaks to the power of music to bring people together, to provoke emotions, and to unleash energy and passion.
