Saturnus
The Receiving End of Sirens Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I've got this little itch that I never learned to scratch
It seems that even if I had, I'd rather itch than not
When the pleasure is the lesser and it's giving to the pressure
Of an ever growing lust and an always present want

All this is yours so here's your piece of it, your part in it
Clench your jaws with claws, you'll strangle it, you'll smother it
Damn right, I want nothing to do with this, no part of it

Fight to death to keep it
This mere fondling is mine
(It's the subtlest of snares)
I've cared so much with proving that I've lost all love for proof
An ever growing craving for a quickly fading feel
(It's the subtlest of snares)
I'd trade my soul for a great big hole and a heart too hard to heal

All this is yours so here's your piece of it, your part in it
Clench your jaws with claws, you'll strangle it, you'll smother it
Damn right, I want nothing to do with this, no part of it
Keep locked your jaws I hope you choke on it, choke on it

The craving grows
Fiercer and fiercer it grows
It grows
The craving grows
Fiercer and fiercer it grows
It grows

My heart is ringing out of tune
(Fiercer and fiercer it grows)
My heart is ringing out of tune
(Fiercer and fiercer it grows)
My heart is calling out for you

I'm first to thirst and the last to drink
Of the words I've heard but rarely think
Forget my heart has gone to hell
I have found the well and it's mine, all mine

I've got this little itch that I never learned to scratch
It seems that even if I had, I'd rather itch than not
When the pleasure is the lesser and it's giving to the pressure
Of an ever growing lust and an always present want

In the background:
All this is yours so here's your piece of it, your part in it
Clench your jaws with claws, you'll strangle it, you'll smother it

Damn right, I want nothing to do with this no part of it
Keep locked your jaws I hope you choke on it, choke on it

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of The Receiving End of Sirens's song Saturnus tell a story of conflicting desires and frustrations. The singer has a constant itch, a feeling of wanting something that they can't quite pinpoint. They believe that even if they found what they were looking for, they would still prefer the feeling of wanting it. They describe a growing lust and an ever-present want that they can't escape.

The singer also feels a sense of ownership over this desire, referring to it as "mine, all mine." However, they also express a desire to distance themselves from it and have "nothing to do with this, no part of it." They seem to recognize that this desire is harmful, calling it a "subtle snare" and describing it as a "mere fondling."

Does anyone remember the demo version of this song and of "Stay Small?" They released those demos before this record came out. I always felt those old teasers captured some magic that the album versions didn't.

If you ever find those, please upload them

I totally agree, especially the original lyrics for Stay Small!

Janoy Cresva

Easily the best song off Mi Fa Mi. I wish these guys would come back...

Matt Lewing

After buying all their music on iTunes, rallying their fans in Dallas, and screaming "Please get back together, make music, shut up, and take my money" at my computer screen, I still have hope they TREOS will make a triumphant come back.

Janoy Cresva

They were actually around before Circa. :(

Chris Handsome another band being older than another doesnt mean anything. They can still remind someone of someone else. Your comment is a pedantic waste of everyones time just because you “had to be right”

Go fuck yourself you pretentious little bitch.

@TheIronAges No, Casey from The Dear Hunter and other musical talents was a member of the band TREOS during the Between the Heart and the Synapse album BEFORE The Earth Sings MI Fa Mi. He pretty much took over as manager of the band, didnt sleep and captained the band. They didnt like that so they kicked him out, bad idea because he's EXTREMELY talented, but this album without him is honestley better than the one with him. I listen to The Dear hunter almost daily, check out Manchester Orchestra aswell with Andy Hull. Musical Geniuses...
