The Red Army Choir Lyrics

Vikhri vrazhdebnye veiut nad nami,
Temnye sily nas zlobno gnetut.
V boj rokovoj my vstupili s vragami,
Nas eshche sudby bezvestnye zhdut.

No my podymem gordo i smelo
Znamia borby za rabochee delo
Znamia velikoj borby vsekh narodov
Za luchshij mir, za sviatuiu svobodu.

-Na boj krovavy,
Sviatoj i pravy
Marsh, marsh vpered,
Rabochij narod.-

Mriot v nashi dni s golodukhi rabochij,
Stanem li, bratia, my dolshe molchat?
Nashikh spodvizhnikov iunye ochi
Mozhet li vid ehshafota pugat?

V bitve velikoj ne sginut bessledno
Pavshie s chestiu vo imia idej.
Ikh imena s nashej pesnej pobednoj
Stanut sviashchenny milonam liudej.

-Na boj krovavy,
Sviatoj i pravy
Marsh, marsh vpered,
Rabochij narod.-

Nam nenavistny tiranov korony,
Tsepi naroda-stradaltsa my chtim.
Kroviu narodnoj zalitye trony
Kroviu my nashikh vragov obagrim!

Smert besposhchadnaia vsem supostatam!
Vsem parazitam trudiashchikhsia mass!
Mshchene i smert vsem tsariam-plutokratam!
Blizok pobedy torzhestvennyj chas.

-Na boj krovavy,
Sviatoj i pravy

Marsh, marsh vpered,
Rabochij narod.-

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of the song Varchavianka by The Red Army Choir express the struggles and determination of the working class against the oppressive forces of tyranny and exploitation. The song begins with the imagery of opposing winds that are blowing over the people, representing the conflicting forces of good and evil. The dark forces of oppression are also depicted as trying to crush the people's spirits. However, the people remain undeterred and continue to fight bravely for their cause, unknown futures awaiting them.

The chorus of the song ("Na boj krovavy, sviatoj i pravy, Marsh, marsh vpered, Rabochij narod") serves as a rallying cry for the working class to come forward and fight together for a better world. It urges the people to rise up and march forward with pride and determination, waving the banner of their cause. The song also acknowledges the sacrifices made by the fallen heroes, who gave their lives for the cause of freedom and justice. The hope is that their names will live on through the people's victorious song.

Overall, the lyrics of Varchavianka speak to the universal struggle of the working class against exploitation, oppression and tyranny. They encourage the people to come together, rise up with unity and determination, and work for a better future where there is equality, freedom, and justice.

Śmiało podnieśmy sztandar nasz w górę!
Choć burza wrogich żywiołów wyje,
Choć nas dziś gnębią siły ponure,
Chociaż niepewne jutro niczyje...
O!... bo to sztandar całej ludzkości,
To hasło święte, pieśń zmartwychwstania,
To tryumf pracy — sprawiedliwości,
To zorza wszystkich ludów zbratania.

Naprzód, Warszawo!
Na walkę krwawą,
Świętą a prawą!
Marsz, marsz, Warszawo!

Dziś, gdy roboczy lud ginie z głodu,
Zbrodnią w rozkoszy tonąć, jak w błocie;
I hańba temu, kto z nas za młodu
Lęka się stanąć choć na szafocie!
Nikt za ideę nie ginie marnie,
Z czasem zwycięża Chrystus Judasza!
Niech święty ogień młodość ogarnie,
Choć wielu padnie — lecz przyszłość nasza!

Naprzód, Warszawo!
Na walkę krwawą,
Świętą a prawą!
Marsz, marsz, Warszawo!

Hura!... zerwijmy z carów korony,
Gdy ludy dotąd chodzą w cierniowej;
I w krwi zatopmy nadgniłe trony,
Spurpurowione we krwi ludowej!...
Ha!... zemsta straszna dzisiejszym katom,
Co wysysają życie z milionów!...
Ha!... zemsta carom i plutokratom!
A przyjdzie żniwo przyszłości plonów!

Naprzód, Warszawo!
Na walkę krwawą,
Świętą a prawą!
Marsz, marsz, Warszawo!

The enemy whirlwinds are flying over our heads
Dark forces are oppressing us
In the battle that we were destined for
Unknown fates are awaiting us.

But we will proudly and boldly raise
The banner of the workers' struggle
The banner of the great battle of all the peoples
For a better world and the holy freedom.

To a battle bloody
Holy and just
March, march forward
Working people.

Must the worker still starve nowadays?
Brothers, shall we keep silent?
Can the sight of the gallows
Frighten the young eyes of our brothers at arms?

In the great battle don't let us die without leaving a trace behind
Those who have fallen in honor for an idea
Their names in our victory songs
Shall become sacred to millions of people.

We loathe the tyrants' crowns
We deem that chains turn the people into a martyr
The thrones are covered with the blood of the peoples
In their own blown we shall redden our enemies.

A ferocious death is awaiting all the enemies
All the parasites on the working classes
Vengeance and death for all the plutocratic Tsars
The solemn hour of victory is near.

I strongly oppose your idea that to understandRussia's history, one need to be a westerner, or at least think in western style, and a
non-westerner simply can't. Culturally Russia maybe western (concept of western/eastern culture is ambiguous by itself), but geopolitically more than two thirds of its
territory locates 'in the East'.
What happened in Russia as historical fact is
enough for any person, westerner or not, to
have a rational comprehension.

Furthermore, being a Chinese, China as neighboring state of Russia has a better
position to observe and understand Russia's
actions than many western countries that are
geologically distant.

China has been aware of Russia since the 17th century. The 1689 Treaty of Nibuchu
(Нерчинский договор) marked the first war
and official agreement between Qing Dynasty and tsarist Russia. From 1850s to 1900s,
China saw Russia's growing power in the far
east. Vast Chinese territory were handed over to Russia under the 1858 Treaty of Aigun,
Treaty of Tianjin and the 1860 Treaty of
Beijing. During 1917 revolution, China
received large number of Russian refuges.
After the collapse of USSR, numerous
Chinese merchant started doing business in
Russia, we call them profiteers, for they
bartered commodity for machinery with
Russian. In cities like Harbin, Russian
churches, buildings, foods and people are
everywhere.

We don't need to be a westerner to
understand you, we are just so close to Russia
that it is hard not to notice what happened
inside it.

Soviet WW2 songs and communist songs in general are most beautiful war songs ever made. You dont even have to understand any words to feel power and emotions in them. Greetings from big fan of Red Army Choir, from Serbia.

@AndreaGerakSinger

We used to sing it in Hungary when I was a child, every kid had to be pioneers and sing these Communist songs.
Now I just listen to this because I love the Red Army Choir as an artist ensemble, they are super professional and powerful.

@LeonWagg

I'm from East Germany although we didn't sing, but I had a chance to listen to it when I was a kid. I missed the old communist days. A great time.

@AndreaGerakSinger

@@LeonWagg Well, I can't really say that I miss the old Communist days... We had one type of bread in the shops, and in my town we only had oranges or bananas onetime in a year, for Christmas, in one shop where people were standing in line from the evening before...

@tarkanyia

On the Children's Railway we sang that until the 2010's as the "Tunnel Song"

@Gvazdika.
