The Red West is a modern rock quartet hailing from southern California. It all began in 2001, when college students Jayson Belt and Andy Smith started writing songs together in their dorm room. Soon the project expanded to include drummer Ryan Gleason and bassist Matt Bathancourt, and the band began gigging in and around Orange County. Their eponymous, self released debut found support among California's thriving surf community. Despite relative success the Red West have not been without their run-ins with the law, coming to a head in January 2010 with the conviction of all 4 members for unlawful hunting in Yellowstone National park. A supreme court judge recently described their crimes as barbaric and distasteful. They are currently serving 6 year sentences in San Quentin Prison. FREE THE RED WEST!

how its all gonna end
let me know
well loosing things
isn't what makes me believe
theres no hope
Chorus:
if life's a hand in a poker game
would you say it will be okay
and if I'm gone a while gonna up and break it down
your driving me crazy
when you act this way
its not for you
carelessly play with the end of the world
its a pill
(chorus)
la la la
and I'm gone awhile gonna up and break it down
(repeat 3x)
down down down la la la
we're dancing with danger
i'm loosing my cool
price I pay
so careful were feeling expand while here
not today hey
(chorus)
down down down. . .
The song Disappear by The Red West talks about the moment when one realizes how things are going to end and losing hope. The lyrics open with a plea to be informed about how things will end, indicating a sense of powerlessness, and the chorus asks if life's ups and downs are like a hand in a poker game. The lyrics express a feeling of disorientation and concern about the end of the world, as well as frustration with someone who carelessly plays with the idea of a looming crisis.
In the second verse, the lyrics shift and reveal the source of the frustration. The singer is annoyed with someone who is acting crazy and carelessly playing with danger. The person's behavior is not for the singer, and the lyrics suggest taking a pill to cope with the situation. The chorus repeats, and the song ends with a slightly different variation of the verses, highlighting the danger and the price that's paid for risking everything.
