Exit
The Retrosic Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I go down the streets
Like a god-damned ghost would do
I am a shadow of a man
Perhaps nothing else but you

My life came to an end
Got over it without a cry
A kid asked me if I am a living dead
And I was not able to deny

Is there an exit?
Lead me to the edge of dawn
Is there an exit?
I want to leave without a frown

Is there an exit?
All I loved is far and gone
Is there an exit?
I want to leave without a frown

I forgot the lady’s name
They are looking all the same
My cigarettes got wet
On my dusty road of shame

I hate life without a reason
I give up without a try
And if I would tell you I care
It would be just a lie

Is there an exit?
Lead me to the edge of dawn
Is there an exit?
I want to leave without a frown

Is there an exit?
All I loved is far and gone
Is there an exit?
I want to leave without a frown

Like they say
Every dog has its day
Maybe mine will come on my last day

Lead me to the edge of dawn

Overall Meaning

The Retrosic's song "Exit" is a melancholic piece that depicts the pain of living in a world that feels too overwhelming and chaotic. The lyrics paint a picture of a man who is weary of the world and is seeking an escape. He describes himself as a "shadow of a man" who is "like a god-damned ghost," someone who is invisible and insignificant. He has lost his sense of purpose and meaning and feels like he's just going through the motions of life.

The chorus of the song repeatedly asks the question, "Is there an exit?" The man is searching for a way out of his pain and misery. He wants to leave without a frown and without any regrets. His love is gone, and he is left with nothing but emptiness and despair.

The song's strength lies in its ability to capture the feelings of hopelessness and desperation that one experiences when facing the challenges of life. It serves as a reminder that sometimes it's okay to admit that we are struggling and need help. It's the kind of song that will resonate with anyone who has ever felt lost, alone, or overwhelmed by the pressures of life.

Is there an exit?
I know one day I will also find this exit, we all have to die one day. And the sooner this day comes the less pain and inner emptiness we must fill. I am sure this day will come, and I will expect in with joy.
