They released one album, a novelty-concept LP of sorts jammed with songs about the then-hot slot car craze.

I prefer the digital because you can tune the car speed and brake power.
I'm not too enthusiastic about getting old track for a few reasons...
1 - it might not be in the best shape (rust, cracks, worn out wires, abuse, etc)
2 - If you are looking for 4-lane, you might not be able to find the outer curves, 1/2 straights, or 1/2 curves needed to make the basic 90 degree turns, etc. (I had this problem with the Strombecker track I originally had)
3 - Old track and cars will usually be analog - 1 car per slot style racing.
4 - You will need a good way to keep track of laps and who's in what position.
5- you will have to spend time hunting down the parts you need.
Whereas digital offers :
Lane changing, adjustable car speed (Good for new drivers), adjustable brakes, accurate digital lap counting, option to run out of gas and hit the pit lane in a race to fuel up, special track to display car speed, bluetooth hookup capability, pace car option and ghost car option, up to 6 racers can run on 2+ lane track, 6 cars can run in one lane.
Why I prefer Carrera - Cars are very durable, track curves are extendable to 8 lanes, track can be widened to accommodate 1/24 cars..

IWhen I was a kid there was a slot car track in my hometown. there was a bunch of kids that raced cars and I would build cars using old model cars and beer cans. They were metal and I shaped chassis from them. I would buy motors and electric brush systems, and shaped them into cars that could compete with the expensive cars the rich White kids raced. The management of the place loved my cars as I did things like staggered tires, offset drives, and if i crashed I would fix the cars and race them again. Some of the rich kids would give me their old stuff and i would use it. I amassed a large collection of parts like this. I didn't win much but I just liked racing. Eventually I outgrew slot cars and became a worker but I never forgot what I learned in those days and I am a racing fan to this day.

@Forward Drive Wendell Scott was one of my heroes. He was known in my neighborhood and many of the Black hot rodders worshipped him. His picture and car was on my wall and I wanted to be like him. I only wish I could have seen him race...

Dude, it never gets old. Get a track. You'll be glad you did.

What a great layout! I enjoyed this one! Good explanation of the layout and how you got the tight 4 lane full 360degree worked out.

Thank you! Glad you liked it!

This is very cool. When I was young my brothers and I had a small track, maybe 3 feet long. I would love to have a track build this size for all of my hot wheels. That would be sooo boss.

You should do it and make a Youtube video of it.
I'm sure people would love to see it!
