Since forming in 2007, the band's combination of danceable rock and soulful songwriting (and brilliantivity) has come to life through a meticulously-crafted and ever-evolving live performance. The band has been instrumental in the growth of New Orleansโ burgeoning indie rock scene, and they have achieved success and notoriety in the cityโs competitive musical landscape.
The Revivalists have proven themselves as a live act. They have managed to advance from low-profile local gigs to extensive touring, developing a loyal fan base at home and across the Gulf Coast Region and gaining footholds nationally. Abroad, they have commanded such venues as The Kennedy Center (Washington, DC), Sullivan Hall (New York City), Toadโs Place (New Haven, CT), and Smithโs Olde Bar (Atlanta, GA). At home, The Revivalists are regulars at The Howlinโ Wolf, The Republic, and the legendary Tipitinaโs. They have shared stages with such notable acts as Perpetual Groove, Marco Benevento, Rebirth Brass Band, Ivan Nevilleโs Dumpstaphunk, The Lee Boys and Snarky Puppy. Additionally, they have established themselves as an engaging festival act, winning over audiences at French Quarter Fest, Crawfest and Foburg Festival in New Orleans, Hamstock Barbecue and Music Festival in Ridgeland, MS, and The Duke Ellington Jazz Festival in Washington, DC. Most recently, The Revivalists played the 2010 New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival. There, they caught the attention of Rolling Stone senior editor David Fricke, who wrote about their performance on his blog on rollingstone.com.
The Revivalists have also grown as studio musicians. Their first release was listed as an editorโs pick in both the Jam and American Traditional Rock categories on CDBaby.com, despite being a humble five-song EP. Their second release, Vital Signs, is both the bandโs first full-length album and a significant step forward in terms of production and scale. The young band was privileged to record under the guidance of Grammy Award-winning producer Chris Finney, whose resumรฉ ranges from Dr. John to R.E.M. Vital Signs is the result of this collaboration. Soon after its release, Vital Signs became the top-selling album on CDBaby in the American Traditional Rock category, and was quickly selected to be featured in their newsletter.

The Revivalists Lyrics

She was burning coke like gas
Oh she's such a vibrant thing
Make the boys in the cold night sing
(Ooh oh oh oh)
She make the boys in the cold night sing
(Ooh oh oh oh)
You got some change inside your pocket
But it doesn't change a thing
I'm a stranger to your smile
But I have seen some stranger things
All the money in the world
But you'll still end up wanting me
No, the change inside your pocket baby
Doesn't change a thing
(Ooh oh oh oh)
Doesn't change a thing
(Ooh oh oh oh)
No, it doesn't change a thing
She's a real wild one
Faster than a bullet from a gun
Oh, she's such a heartless queen
Make the boys in the cold night sing
(Ooh oh oh oh)
She make the boys in the cold night sing
(Ooh oh oh oh)
She on the top shelf drinking cheap champagne
You got some change inside your pocket
But it doesn't change a thing
I'm a stranger to your smile
But I have seen some stranger things
All the money in the world
But you'll still end up wanting me
No, the change inside your pocket baby
Doesn't change a thing
(Ooh oh oh oh)
No, it doesn't change a thing
(Ooh oh oh oh)
No, it doesn't change a thing
No, No
No, it doesn't
It doesn't change who you are
Change what you need
Change what you know how you feel about me
It doesn't change who you are
Change what you need
Change what you know how you feel about me
How you feel about me
What you, what you
What you know and how you feel about me
You got some change inside your pocket
But it doesn't change a thing
I'm a stranger to your smile
But I have seen some stranger things
All the money in the world
But you'll still end up wanting me
No, the change inside your pocket baby
Doesn't change a thing
(doesn't, doesn't, doesn't)
No, it doesn't change a thing
(Ooh oh oh oh)
Doesn't, doesn't, doesn't, change a thing
The Revivalists' "Change" talks about a wild and vibrant woman who's running through life at full speed, wilder than anyone else. She does everything with a vibrant and chaotic energy that makes the men around her feel alive. Despite their differences, the persona and the wild woman seem to be inexorably drawn to each other, and no amount of money or change on hand will alter that deep connection. Despite their differences and her wild spirit, the persona has seen eye-opening things in her that make him understand their connection.
Lyrically, the song gives a sense of living life to the fullest, of finding someone who creates this sense of vibrancy and change in our stagnant and static lives, and of how things remain the same despite how much money we have.

Honestly this band needs more attention then they do. I grew up listening to these songs and hum them everywhere I go and these lyrics are woven into the person I am today.
