Since forming in 2007, the band's combination of danceable rock and soulful songwriting (and brilliantivity) has come to life through a meticulously-crafted and ever-evolving live performance. The band has been instrumental in the growth of New Orleans’ burgeoning indie rock scene, and they have achieved success and notoriety in the city’s competitive musical landscape.
The Revivalists have proven themselves as a live act. They have managed to advance from low-profile local gigs to extensive touring, developing a loyal fan base at home and across the Gulf Coast Region and gaining footholds nationally. Abroad, they have commanded such venues as The Kennedy Center (Washington, DC), Sullivan Hall (New York City), Toad’s Place (New Haven, CT), and Smith’s Olde Bar (Atlanta, GA). At home, The Revivalists are regulars at The Howlin’ Wolf, The Republic, and the legendary Tipitina’s. They have shared stages with such notable acts as Perpetual Groove, Marco Benevento, Rebirth Brass Band, Ivan Neville’s Dumpstaphunk, The Lee Boys and Snarky Puppy. Additionally, they have established themselves as an engaging festival act, winning over audiences at French Quarter Fest, Crawfest and Foburg Festival in New Orleans, Hamstock Barbecue and Music Festival in Ridgeland, MS, and The Duke Ellington Jazz Festival in Washington, DC. Most recently, The Revivalists played the 2010 New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival. There, they caught the attention of Rolling Stone senior editor David Fricke, who wrote about their performance on his blog on rollingstone.com.
The Revivalists have also grown as studio musicians. Their first release was listed as an editor’s pick in both the Jam and American Traditional Rock categories on CDBaby.com, despite being a humble five-song EP. Their second release, Vital Signs, is both the band’s first full-length album and a significant step forward in terms of production and scale. The young band was privileged to record under the guidance of Grammy Award-winning producer Chris Finney, whose resumé ranges from Dr. John to R.E.M. Vital Signs is the result of this collaboration. Soon after its release, Vital Signs became the top-selling album on CDBaby in the American Traditional Rock category, and was quickly selected to be featured in their newsletter.

Make everybody fall in love with you
Call me your lover, call me another
All I hear are lies from you
They're throwing stones and you're feeling bad
Blue baby friends are all you ever had
Lie to you I won't
Lie to me you may
Would you come with me
I want you to come with me
'Cause I can't do this alone, no
Oh and society is putting scars on my body
It's got me acting so naughty
Setting fire to my home
I'm just another skeleton in her closet
A freak like no one knows
Buried bones up in her backyard with dirt between my toes
Yeah I used to really love her
But now I just don't know
The time between us faded all the love I felt below
And I wish I may I wish I might have some love today
You know I could
You know I would find a way to stay
But now is not the time and here is not the place
I'm on my way to somewhere these scars I can't erase
So, s would you come with me
Oh I want you to come with me
'Cause I can't do this alone, no
Ohh and society is putting scars on my body
It's got me acting so naughty
Setting fire to my home
Would you come with me?
Oh I want you to come with me
'Cause I can't do this alone, no
Oh and society is putting scars on my body
It's got me acting so naughty
Setting fire to my home
Oh, no no yeah
Oh no no
It's putting scars on my body
Setting fire to my home
Oh, and it makes no difference
It makes no difference to me
I'm feeling, feeling so god damn good, oh yeah
It makes no difference, it makes no difference to me
The song "Fade Away" by The Revivalists paints a bleak picture of a doomed relationship that is causing the singer's life to spiral out of control. The lyrics suggest that the person he is involved with is manipulative and dishonest, causing him to feel isolated and desperate. The first two lines set the tone for the entire song, as the vocalist acknowledges the irresistible pull of his partner's spell. He recognizes that the love he feels for her could be dangerous and expresses a feeling of doom by saying, "But now is not the time, and death is not the place."
The chorus, "Would you come with me? I want you to come with me, 'cause I can't do this alone," suggests that the singer feels trapped in the relationship and is reaching out to his partner for help. The lyric "society is putting scars on my body, it's got me acting so naughty, setting fire to my home" implies that he is feeling the weight of societal pressure and is lashing out in destructive ways. There is a sense of urgency in the tone of the song, as if the singer knows that this relationship is coming to an end, but he desperately wants to fix it before it's too late.
Overall, the lyrics of "Fade Away" paint a picture of emotional turmoil, manipulation, and deceit. The song's haunting melody and powerful vocals make it a powerful and moving piece of music.
