1. The Riot Squad were a pop group from London, initially managed and produced by Larry Page and later, for their reunion, by Joe Meek. Members included Graham Bonney (vocals), Ron Ryan (guitar), Len Tuckey (guitar), Mark Stevens (keyboards), Mike Martin (bass), Mitch Mitchell (drums), Rodger Crisp, Terry Clifford, Butch Davis, Derek "Del" Roll. Their only constant member was to be Bob Evans (saxophone), who, after the band split for the first time, "reunited" The Riot Squad with all new musicians.
In early 1967 they were joined by David Bowie, who at the time was recording material for his self-titled debut album. The band consisted of six members: Bowie (lead vocalist, guitar, tenor saxophone), Rod Davies (guitar), Croke Prebble (bass), Bob Evans (saxophone, flute), George Butcher (keyboards) and Derek Roll (drums). This incarnation recorded several as-yet unreleased tracks, including a cover of the The Velvet Underground's "I'm Waiting for the Man" and a Velvets-influenced Bowie original called "Little Toy Soldier".
2. The Riot Squad was also a 'gabber' trance German techno band.

Ron Ryan
I was the bloke who started this Band (Ron Ryan), and discovered a young unknown drummer 'Mitch Mitchell' (who is drumming on this). I did not want to record 'I wanna talk', but our Manager (Larry Page) insisted that we did, so for a laugh I borrowed a friend of mines voice 'Georgie Fame) and sung it like he would have done it. It was a great Band, and we did some great Gigs and a few TV shows. When I left a singer called David Bowie took my place, I wonder what happened to him?
Marty Johnson
i still have this 45, thanks
Mod Zeb
The dogs bollox this. Nice. Triple A post.
Ron Ryan
@lpeeko It was not Georgie Fame, or 'The Kinks', I was singing on both sides!! my name is Ron Ryan, and the Band is 'The Riot Squad' (with Mitch Mitchell on drums). I wrote the 'Gonna make you mine'. The only involvement Larry Page had is that he was the Bands manager.
gazelle
Wow,I have demo copy, always thought it was Georgie fame singing on talk about my baby.lol
Ron Ryan
@gazelle LOL, I know Georgie, and when I recorded the song I hated it, still do, so I 'borrowed' Georgie's voice to record it!! When I saw him next I told him what I did, he did not believe me, but a few days later he heard it on the radio and told me that he thought it was him singing, and we had a big laugh about it.
Noremac
@Ron Ryan Were you in any other bands after this? you have a great voice
Ron Ryan
@Noremac Yes quite a few, on youtube try 'The Blues Aces' That's alright and All I want.
Noremac
@Ron Ryan Thanks so much for the reply Ron, i loved both of them.. already added to the playlist. It’s so cool to be able to talk to someone who lived through the 60s and was part of the culture. I was wondering was it you who recorded those country tracks in the 70s like donation blues? I really wanna be able to hear those full albums but none are uploaded. Btw do you still keep up with Georgie Fame?
melitosse
@lpeeko I think it's done by Joe Meek at his flat.
