“Texas based Rock / Americana / Southern Rock group unleash this new six track EP Shine Bird Shine, and what a great Ep it is...everything about this Ep really is from the very top draw...the songs are brilliant...Hopefully these guys will manage to get some dates over on this side of the pond... ”
Barry Gennard of Glitzine online Music Magazine - Sinister Angel Realm: The Roaming Soldiers
“...there is no doubt that the lyrics drives this band and is very evident in "Dancing Shoes". Makes you wonder how much of their real life experiences are written in their music? Good music is always written from the heart and SBS (Shine Bird Shine) is filled with blues, heart and soul. ”
Michael Insuaste - JAM Magazine Online
“This music is right in line with the music traditions here in the south from when Lynyrd Skynyrd and The Allman Brothers first got their start... I think Southern fans would love them a lot if not already.”
Kimberly James - Review @ Sign Me To RoadRunner Records
“Real genuine southern rock sound, hard to find a sound like this. The lead guitarist is killer...you guys are great!”
Erin Hancock - Review @ Sign Me To RoadRunner Records

Strange
The Roaming Soldiers Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴
Where the liars wait
Never bite that silver tongue
So it lashed away
Like a junkie on a sideways bends
I'm always near the end
Pre-Chorus
You make me feel strange
Gonna tell the truth to see
But it's gonna change
Spider mouth at the witching hour
Has got a lethal spray
I'm feeling like a poisoned fly
But I'm never getting off this wall
Pre_Chorus
Chorus
You make me feel strange
So wicked and out of place
Oh babe
You know I never be
And I'll never stay
Gonna see it's everywhere
When you look around
Gonna crawl across the floor
To pass the sickness down
She'll tell you the pallor the skin
The more truth is found
Pre-chorus
Chorus
The lyrics to The Roaming Soldiers song "Strange" seem to be about a toxic relationship with someone who is lying and cheating. The singer describes going to the devil's den, a metaphor for being with this person despite knowing it's not good. The line "never bite that silver tongue, so it lashed away" suggests that they didn't fall for the manipulation of the person they were with and that they stood their ground. The reference to a junkie on a sideways bend implies the feeling of being at their breaking point and in a downward spiral.
The pre-chorus then directly calls out the person for cheating and lying, leading to the singer feeling strange about the situation. The chorus repeats the feeling of being strange and wicked, out of place with this person they are with. They know they can't stay in the toxic relationship, but they struggle to leave. The line "I'm feeling like a poisoned fly but I'm never getting off this wall" paints a picture of being trapped and poisoned, yet unable to leave.
The second verse adds more detail to the toxicity of the relationship, referencing spider mouth with lethal spray, another metaphor for the person's ability to manipulate and hurt those around them. The singer feels like a poisoned fly, unable to escape, but they know they have to pass the sickness down to escape the poisonous situation. The final line "she'll tell you the pallor the skin, the more truth is found" seems to suggest that the woman is revealing her true self through her actions and that the more damaged and sickly she appears, the more truthful she is being.
