Tobias Helmlinger replaced Maul on bass and Markus Steckert joined in on keyboards and organ. After touring with Yage , The Robocop Kraus followed their split EP with The Cherryville up with their first full-length album in 1999 entitled Inferno Nihilistique 2000, again, on Swing Deluxe. The band toured Germany, France, and Spain in support of Inferno Nihilistique 2000.
In 2001, the band released their second album and first worldwide release Tiger on Day After Records, a Czech record label. They toured in support of Tiger throughout Germany, France, Holland, the Czech Republic, Poland, England, and Ireland with The World/Inferno Friendship Society and Yage. A year later, The Robocop Kraus released As Long As We Dance We Are Not Dead, a two CD collection of rarities including songs from The Robocop Kraus/The Cherryville split EP. FASHION
The Robocop Kraus Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I know it ain't identical
When you don't belong to anything
To anyone
It is fantastic! Super!
Don't you be hysterical
I know we have to get used to it
It is fashion
Don't you be hysterical
When your life feels superficial
You don't belong to anything
To anyone
We go up, we go down
And in between there's no common ground to be found
And still it goes like we have to get used to it
It is fashion
Superficial! Superficial!
We have to get used to it
It is fashion
In "Fashion" by The Robocop Kraus, the lyrics seem to be addressing a feeling of being adrift in the world, without a sense of belonging or connection to others. The repeated refrain of "Don't you be hysterical" suggests a sense of trying to remain calm in the face of these feelings and frustrations. The lyrics also draw a contrast between the idea of being part of something (belonging to a group or community) and the reality of feeling disconnected and superficial.
The repeated assertion that "it is fashion" could be read as a commentary on the way that social norms and trends can dictate our lives, even when they feel artificial or hollow. The line "we have to get used to it" suggests a resignation to this state of being, even as it remains unsatisfying. The song seems to be urging the listener to accept the superficiality of modern life, even as it leaves them feeling disconnected and alone.
Overall, the lyrics to "Fashion" seem to be a reflection on the way that social conventions can shape our lives, and the sense of disconnection that can result from feeling like we don't fit into those conventions. Despite the somewhat bleak message, there's also a sense of humor and irony to the song, as it plays with the idea of "fashion" as something superficial and ultimately meaningless.
