Sister Morphine
The Rolling Stones Lyrics

Here I lie in my hospital bed
Tell me, sister Morphine, when are you coming round again?
Oh, I don't think I can wait that long
Oh, you see that I'm not that strong

The scream of the ambulance is sounding in my ears
Tell me, sister Morphine, how long have I been lying here?
What am I doing in this place?
Why does the doctor have no face?
Oh, I can't crawl across the floor
Ah, can't you see, Sister Morphine, I'm trying to score

Well it just goes to show
Things are not what they seem
Please, sister Morphine, turn my nightmares into dreams
Oh, can't you see I'm fading fast?
And that this shot will be my last

Sweet cousin Cocaine, lay your cool cool hand on my head
Ah, come on, sister Morphine, you better make up my bed
'Cause you know and I know in the morning I'll be dead
Yeah, and you can sit around, yeah and you can watch all
The clean white sheets stained red

OK. I wasn't gonna say anything, but enough is enough. Let's set the record straight once and for all: some people on here are going on and on about Keith Richards, and even mentioning Brian Jones and Ronnie Wood.

Brian Jones was dead before "Sticky Fingers" was even produced. The Stones had not yet stolen Ronnie Wood from Rod Stewart and Faces, so he wasn't even there yet. And, as for Keef...

With all due respect to Keith Richards---on Mick Taylor's WORSE DAY, Keef couldn't hold a candle to him. Contrary to what some ill-informed folks are saying, Mick Taylor played guitar THROUGH OUT the "Sticky Fingers" album. It was his first album with the Stones.

Make no mistake, Keith Richards is a very good guitarist.
Mick Taylor is a GREAT guitarist. A guitar genius.

He's right up there with Hendrix, Clapton, and Santana. No doubt about it. So... before you start pissing all over yourselves and jumping up and down about Keith Richards, do a little research next time.

One last observation: the other person who deserves recognition (especially on this tune) is Ry Cooder, on slide guitar.

When Charlie came in with the thunderous drum beat, it's when the song bursts into climax. RIP, the groove guy.

That rush of drums makes the song! One of the best drum pieces in rock music history!

I work in an assisted living facility and my favorite resident died today. We both love The Rolling Stones and we would always just sit around listening and talking about music. This was his favorite Stones song. Pat you will be missed

Celio Pereira Marcuci

Very sorry. This is one of my favorites too

Those who care for and comfort the dying are performing one of the most sacred duties a person can do in this life. R.I.P. Pat and bless you for the work you do.

Party on Pat.

Do the same job myself .
I got a guy similar living at the service I work. plays guitar loves the stones Hendrix.
Deep thinking guy we've also had some great chats about music and life in general.
What he knows about music and artists from the 60's onward was astounding to listen to.
I'm sure you bought plenty of good medicine to his life.
Keep up you good work.

Brilliant song, those who are unfortunate to have battled through addiction, especially opiates, it's clear it's been wrote with first hand experience of the struggle!! 🌹
