Walk Right In
The Rooftop Singers Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Walk right in, sit right down
Daddy, let your mind roll on
Walk right in, sit right down
Daddy, let your mind roll on
Everybody's talkin' 'bout a new way of walkin'
Do you want to lose your mind?
Walk right in, sit right down
Daddy, let your mind roll on

Walk right in, sit right down
Baby, let your hair hang down
Walk right in, sit right down
Baby, let your hair hang down
Everybody's talkin' 'bout a new way of walkin'
Do you want to lose your mind?
Walk right in, sit right down
Baby, let your hair hang down

Walk right in, sit right down
Daddy, let your mind roll on
Walk right in, sit right down
Daddy, let your mind roll on
Everybody's talkin' 'bout a new way of walkin'
Do you want to lose your mind?
Walk right in, sit right down

Daddy, let your mind roll on
Daddy, let your mind roll on

Overall Meaning

"Walk right in, sit right down, daddy let your mind roll on," are the opening words to The Rooftop Singers' hit song, "Walk Right In." These lyrics set the mood for this upbeat number as they encourage listeners to relax and let their minds wander. The song's catchy tune and simple lyrics made it a hit during its initial release in the 1960s and have since become an iconic example of folk music.

The lyrics of "Walk Right In" are augmented by the infectious melody that features acoustic guitar, harmonica, and a lively rhythm section. The song encourages people to let go of their inhibitions and unwind. The phrase "Everybody's talking about a new way of walking" suggests that there is a popular trend or fad that people are talking about, but the singer suggests that one should focus on having fun instead.

Interestingly, the song became a hit after it was used as a jingle for a commercial for the Hamm's Brewing Company. After the commercial's success, the song was re-recorded and released as a single, which went on to be a number one hit. The popularity of "Walk Right In" led to it being covered by scores of other artists.

Ah...I love this. Man, those guitars really sing. Where did music like this go?

@lustforkicks7392

It sadly faded away, and then we were introduced to so many untalented foulmouthed rap performers who don't deserve one penny worth of their pitiful efforts! I'm a 44 year old man, and I have been listening to lots of sixties pop music on a regular basis, because it's modest and influential! I agree that those twelve string guitars in this song sound bright and phenomenal!
