In mid-1977 the band moved to the UK, where it became apparent that they and their label had different ideas as to how they should be marketed. EMI planned to sell The Saints as a typical punk band complete with ripped clothes. The Saints insisted on wearing collared shirts and sweaters, and left their hair long. The original line-up consisted of vocalist Chris Bailey, guitarist Ed Kuepper and Ivor Hay on drums with Kym Bradshaw and later Algy Ward on bass.
Kuepper, Hay and Ward left the band in 1978, but Chris Bailey continued touring and recording as The Saints with a revolving line-up of musicians throughout the 80's including the late Janine Hall on bass. The Saints' commercial breakthrough into the US came in 1986 with the album "All Fools Day", with the video for "Just Like Fire Would" receiving airplay on MTV.
After releasing a couple of records under his own name, Bailey reformed The Saints in 1996. Once again without any of the other founding members but they have reunited occasionally to perform live. The Saints music could often be heard in the background during episodes of Neighbours in the 1990's!
The current line-up is:
Chris Bailey - Guitar and vocals
Caspar Wijnberg - Bass
Peter Wilkinson - Drums
Other bands:
2) A Reggae Band.
3) Polish klezmer band from Cracow.
4) Saints (sans The) is an experimental group from Goleta, CA.
5) '60s British band recorded by Joe Meek.
6) An American 60's uptown soul group.

Let the church say (Let the church say)
Amen
King James got a book telling stories of a carpenter
Who left the world shook
King Alfred got a plan to keep the upper-hand
Can’t let the world get took
Days that I lay awake at night
Praying, for a way out
Ain’t heard nothing yet
I’ma keep my faith strong, hussle on
Grinding like the silence don’t faze me
I’ll create a melody for my reality
Wit a secret chord I play like King David
Karma so good that I stay blessed
Congregate and go crazy
Light the world in the dark times
Let it be when the Church say (Ooh)
Light the world in the dark times
So it be, let it be when the Church say
Bonafied in the scripture
I just word it different
Tongue game so crazy
Kumyalle, boom baba tumbe
Got'm saying Carpe diem
Bringing visions to fruition
I make it better than I dreamed of
Yeah the future got me geeked up
That’s the mission for the season
So I speak it into existence
It is written sign my name like a witness
To the blessings in the wake of Amen on the re-up
King James got a book telling stories of a carpenter
Who left the world shook
King Alfred got a plan to keep the upper-hand
Can’t let the world get took
Days that I lay awake at night
Tryna figure out what to say next
Praying, for a way out
Ain’t heard nothing yet
I’ma keep my faith strong, hussle on
Grinding like the silence don’t faze me
I’ll create a melody for my reality
Wit a secret chord I play like King David
Karma so good that I stay blessed
Congregate and go crazy
Light the world in the dark times
Let it be when the Church say (Church say, hahahahaha)
The Saints's song Amen is a call to faith and perseverance through difficult times. The lyrics contain references to biblical and historical figures who faced hardship but found strength in their beliefs. The opening line, "Let the church say Amen," is a common phrase used in African-American churches to emphasize a point made by the preacher or to show agreement with a statement. The song then goes on to mention King James, who wrote the King James Bible, and King Alfred, who was a ruler in ancient England.
The lyrics describe the struggles of the singer, who spends sleepless nights trying to find the right words to express themselves. They pray for guidance and a breakthrough, and resolve to keep working hard despite the silence that surrounds them. The singer draws inspiration from the story of King David, who played a secret chord on his harp to soothe the troubled mind of King Saul. The reference to Karma suggests that the singer believes in the power of positive energy, and that their good deeds will be rewarded.
Overall, Amen is a song that encourages listeners to stay strong and keep their faith in times of adversity. It draws on a mix of spiritual, historical, and musical references to create a message that is both uplifting and thought-provoking.
