The Saturdays made their recording debut in 2007 under the record label Fascination Records, a sub-division of Polydor Records. Their debut album, Chasing Lights, produced five UK Top 25 singles. The band embarked on their first headlining UK tour, called 'The Work Tour', in June 2009.
Their first single, titled If This Is Love was released on 28th July 2008 and entered the UK chart at #8 where it peaked. It reached #33 on the Eurochart Hot 100 singles. The single's sold around 90,000 copies to date. The second single, Up, was released on 13 October 2008. It debuted on the UK singles chart at #5, where it peaked, #11 on the Irish singles chart and #15 on the Eurochart Hot 100 singles. The single was certified as Silver and sold over 285,000 copies to date. The third single was released on January 4th 2009 and was called Issues. The chorus' lyrics had to be changed as the word "slap" sounded too close to the word "stab", and the band didn't want to condone violence. It was later changed to "leave". The single entered the UK chart at #84 and peaked at #4. It managed to hit #14 in Ireland and #21 in Europe. Their fourth single, Just Can't Get Enough, was the official Comic Relief single in 2009. It was a cover of the Depeche Mode song with the same name. It entered and peaked in the chart at #2, giving The Saturdays their highest charted position to date, and their 4th consecutive top 10 hit in the UK. Their 5th single was called Work. It was released on June 29th 2009 and peaked at #22 on the UK singles chart. Chasing Lights was released on October 27th 2008 and re-released on March 16th 2009 including the Comic Relief single. The Saturdays Lyrics

Yeah-ay-yeah
Mhmm
Letting you go is pretty damn difficult
Cause there was a time I would be for you
What you need for me, I would do what
Whatever to be rolling wit' u
So I'm a go lay it out right for you
You're not good to me, I know I've been
Blind but I can open my eyes
Cause then I see just what you are
Not for me, I don't why
I wanted you I don't want you
I deny, oh
All that you did and all that you didn't
All that you said and all that you wouldn't
Deny, I deny it
Defy, everything, oh
All that we were and all that we called up
All that you were and all that you made up
Defy, I defy it
I deny everything you are
And everything we were
And everything you are
And everything we were, and I
You took your time
Well baby you should take up all of mine
So when I said you should be you don't question me
When I'm telling you, I don't want you
Hiding up my mind anymore
I don't want you, you can go
Leave my keys and close the door
I don't need somebody like you
I deny oh I deny!
All that you did and all that you didn't
All that you said and all that you wouldn't
Deny, I deny it
Defy, everything. oh you were
All that we were and all that we called up
All that you were and all that you made up
Defy, I defy it
I deny everything you are
And everything we were
And everything you are
And everything we were, and I
Don't tell me
You never thought that we would come to this
Standing here, giving up all that we have been
Whoa! and don't blame me
This is not about what I have done
I've done more, I could do, still we fought
Still you try me, but baby
I deny-I-I!
Woo
All that you did and all that you didn't
All that you said and all that wouldn't
Deny, I deny it
Defy, everything, ohh
I deny it!
All that we were and all that we called up, oh-whoa
All that you were and all that you made up
Defy, I defy it, woo
I deny everything oh
All that you did and all that you made up
All that you said and all that you wouldn't, whoa-oh-oh
Deny, I deny it woo
Defy, everything oh
All that we were and all that we called up
All that you were and all that you made up
Defy, I defy it
I deny everything you are
And everything we were
And everything you were
And everything we were, and I
Whoa-oh
I deny
The lyrics to "Denial" by The Saturdays describe the struggle of letting go of a relationship even when it becomes clear that it is no longer working. The singer is admitting that it's difficult to let go of their partner because they were willing to do anything for them, but they have come to realize that the relationship is not good for them. They then proceed to list all the things their partner did or didn't do, said or wouldn't say that led to the end of the relationship. The singer finally denies their former partner saying they do not want and need them anymore, and asking them to leave.
The chorus of the song emphasizes the singer's denial of the relationship and all that it represented. This denial is further underscored by the repetition of the song's title throughout the lyrics. The lyrics show the singer's determination to move on and start a new chapter in their life, without their former partner weighing them down.
Overall, "Denial" is a song that beautifully captures the conflicted emotions that come with ending a relationship, and the feeling of finality that comes with denying everything associated with it.

Letting you go is pretty damn difficult
Breaking up with you is a challenge for me
Cause there was a time I would be for you
I used to support you wholeheartedly
What you need for me, I would do what
I was ready to do anything you required
Whatever to be rolling wit' u
I wanted to be with you at any cost
And you know I took it as far as I can go
I have given my best to this relationship
So I'm a go lay it out right for you
I am going to be transparent with you
You're not good to me, I know I've been
I am aware that you are not treating me well
Blind but I can open my eyes
I was blinded by my love for you but now I can see the truth
Cause then I see just what you are
I finally see who you really are
Not for me, I don't why
I am not sure why I wanted you
I wanted you I don't want you
I used to want you, but I don't anymore
I deny, oh
I am in denial about my feelings for you
All that you did and all that you didn't
I can't forget what you did or didn't do
All that you said and all that you wouldn't
I can't forget what you said or refused to say
Deny, I deny it
I am in denial about everything related to you
Defy, everything, oh
I am ready to stand up against everything to reject you
All that we were and all that we called up
I remember everything we were and talked about
All that you were and all that you made up
I recall what you presented to me as yourself
I don't want you, you can go
I don't want to be with you anymore, you can leave
Leave my keys and close the door
Return my keys and leave my life
I don't need somebody like you
I don't require someone like you in my life
Whoa! and don't blame me
Don't accuse me of being responsible for this break up
This is not about what I have done
The reason for our split is not my mistake
I've done more, I could do, still we fought
I have done more than I could, but we still had conflicts
Still you try me, but baby
But you still try to manipulate me, dear
I deny-I-I!
I deny everything about us
All that you did and all that you made up
I refuse to acknowledge your actions and lies
All that we were and all that we called up, oh-whoa
I don't want to revisit our past and what we discussed
And everything you were
You are no longer the one I thought you were
Whoa-oh-oh
Expressing surprise and disbelief
Defy, everything oh
I reject everything related to you
