The Scarred is known for self-releasing their first album and for the relentless touring in the beginning of their career. As of January 2012, they have issued over ten releases, including four full length albums. In 2005, the band was signed by the legendary Punk Core records, which has often led people to falsely associate them with Street Punk. While The Scarred toured and played with many of the key bands of the Street Punk era, they have always described their sound as "Punkrocknroll," "Garage Punk," and their influences range from 1977 Punk Rock, to 60's soul, Delta Blues, Motown, R&B, and 50's rock and roll.
Continuing to stay independent, The Scarred most recently signed to Jailhouse Records, (A punk and indie label based out of Virginia) releasing their fourth–and most diverse–full length album, "Live Fast Die Poor."
The official description from their current press kit (reproduced here with permission) is as follows: After ten records, and twenty nationwide tours, The Scarred has become less of a band and more of an urban legend. The Scarred stands as one of Southern California's most battle hardened and best kept rock n' roll secrets. It's more than just music. It's alienation, isolation, and degradation. A distant crackled song blasted through the broken speaker of your radio. It's a cold lonely road accompanied by nothing more than a guitar and a notebook full of stories. The Scarred is the last of a dying breed, the last cigarette in the pack, the last drop in the bottle. It's rock, punk, blues, and soul wrapped into one. This isn't a message of hope, it's an out right battle cry to those who still believe in music. Bloody, beaten, and raw, song after song, their name rings truer than ever. They refuse to stop. They refuse to quit. The needle on your record player will throw in the towel long before this band does. This is The Scarred.

You say you gave up everything you had
But now you've given up and you're gone
Never understood it or admit that you're wrong
Cuz you whine, and you pout
Guess you never knew or cared what it's all about
You packed your shit and you ran away,
But I've got a few things left to say
I thought you had class, but I was wrong.
Same old story, same pathetic song.
I thought you had class, but I was wrong.
Thought you had class, guess that I was wrong
Walking in the street again, I'm all alone at 3am and
I'm still thinking about what you said,
While all the decent people are home in bed
Ring the alarm and sound the bell,
I got a funny feeling we're going to hell
Down on broadway the city creeps,
Just a night on the prowl in Long Beach
I thought you had class but I was wrong.
Same old Story same pathetic song,
I thought you had class but I was wrong,
Thought you had class guess that I was wrong
We don't wanna, we don't wanna, we don't wanna be told what to do
We don't wanna, we don't wanna, we don't wanna be told what to do
We don't wanna, we don't wanna, we don't wanna be told what to do
We don't wanna, we don't wanna, we don't wanna be told what to do
We are the kids of broken homes and broken dreams
We are the ones with no identity
We are the kids of broken homes and broken dreams
We are the ones with no identity
We are the kids of broken homes and broken dreams
We are the ones with no identity
We are the kids of broken homes and broken dreams
We are the ones with no identity
We are the kids of broken homes and broken dreams
We are the ones with no identity
We are the kids of broken homes and broken dreams
We are the ones with no identity
The Scarred's song "Mr. Hollywood" is about a person who has lost everything they had and has given up. The singer expresses a sense of disappointment in this individual as they never understood or admitted their mistakes, and now they have left. The lyrics suggest that this person was self-centered and did not care about others or their surroundings, demonstrated by their whining and pouting. The singer then reflects on the situation and realizes that they were wrong about this person, that they didn't have any class or integrity.
The second half of the song describes the singer walking alone at 3am and thinking about the situation, feeling as if something is wrong, and that they're going to hell. They're in Long Beach and feel like they're on the prowl. The chorus repeats several times, stating that they don't want to be told what to do, and that they are the kids of broken homes and broken dreams, without any identity.
Overall, the song is a commentary on the lack of self-awareness and empathy in modern society, particularly in the entertainment industry. The lyrics suggest that people are more concerned with their own needs and desires than with the needs of others.

You express your disapproval in a petulant manner
Guess you never knew or cared what it's all about
It seems that you were either unaware of or indifferent towards its true meaning

Walking in the street again, I'm all alone at 3am and
Walking outside once more, I find myself by myself on the street at 3am and
I'm still thinking about what you said,
I'm still reflecting on your words,
While all the decent people are home in bed
Even as all the respectable individuals are asleep in their homes
Ring the alarm and sound the bell,
Alert everyone and make it known
I got a funny feeling we're going to hell
I have a premonition that we are headed for trouble

The city sneaks around on Broadway
Just a night on the prowl in Long Beach
Just an evening of strolling around in Long Beach

We don't desire anyone telling us what to do
We are the kids of broken homes and broken dreams

I have to be honest when I say this, but this is the best original rock anthem that I've heard in years! I'm dead serious. I want to turn on the TV and hear this playing during a hockey promo or a commercial for a pro wrestling event. This is like your own Rock and Roll All Nite or We're Not Gonna Take It. It's Damn good, and at the very least I want this on iTunes. Awesome.
