The Scenic enlisted the help of producer Mike Watts (the Almost, As Tall As Lions, The Deer Hunter) to record their debut album in the Spring of 2008. The collaboration resulted in 12 addictive and poppy sing along anthems that made “Find Yourself Here” as well as a music video produced by Barry Sonders(Mae, Bayside) for the lead single “The American Way”.
A year of relentless touring followed with the band amassing over 250 shows across the entire US including winning the Ernie Ball 2008 battle of the bands and playing a week of Warped Tour on the Kevin Says Stage in 2009.
The Scenic, comprised of Vocalist Jeremy Menard, guitarists Jake Sciscio and Zach Andresen, bassist Frank Romantino, and Drummer Shane Reynolds, are currently working on songs for the follow up album to 2008’s Find Yourself Here and hope to enter the studio in early 2010. The new material promises to be catchy and melodic as always, but more mature and energetic, poised for the stage.
Take Your time

Your words, they hurt my ears
As it resonates throughout the night skies
Such convincing repetitions
As it swallows us whole
So take your time
Resting in the sound
Will you sing me something that I can understand?
At least anything to ease the thought
So hold onto what you've got
'Cause we gave it our best, we gave it our all
I can feel the worst is over
Comprehended by the eye
Like a storm, we slowly die
In the ever-passing moment
We are further brushed away
In doubt, we stay
And high above my head
Resting in the sound
Will you sing me something that I can understand?
At least anything to ease the thought
So hold onto what you've got
Because we gave it our best, we gave it our all
Will you sing me something that I can understand?
At least anything to east the thought
So hold onto what you've got
Because we gave it our best, we gave it our all
We gave it our all
The Scenic's song Take Your Time is a moving ballad that captures the emotional distress that one feels when they are hurt by someone's words. The song talks to an individual who is hurting because of another's words, and the voice trembles in the distance while the words echo through the night skies. The words are so convincing that they swallow the listener whole, and they have to take their time to process the hurt that has been inflicted upon them. The singer then asks for the individual to sing a song that they can understand and that will ease their thoughts.
The song speaks to the power of words and how they can either heal or destroy. In the ever-passing moment, the individuals that we are can be brushed away, leaving behind doubt and uncertainty. The singer in the song then acknowledges that the worst is over and that they have comprehended the message that was being communicated. They ask for a song again, not because they are still in pain but because they want to hold onto what they have been given and appreciate the value of giving everything their best.
Overall, the song Take Your Time is a moving and emotional song that speaks to the power of words and the value of holding onto what we have been given. It is a reminder to take our time in processing what is being said to us and not to rush into judgments or decisions that we may later regret.
