The band released one album, Do It Yourself, in 1997 and began work on a follow up (with Mark Heany replacing Watts as drummer), before splitting up due to musical differences during recording sessions in January 1999. The second album was never officially released, although it later surfaced as a bootleg.
Squire went on to release two solo albums: Time Changes Everything (2002) and Marshall's House (2004) . Helme, meanwhile, went on to form The Yards, along with Fletcher, who also joined Rick Witter and the Dukes with the former Shed Seven frontman in 2005.

You Can Talk to Me
The Seahorses Lyrics

I've got so many things to say
I had to write 'em down
I was feeling alone
So I'm on the phone to you
Now that you're here
I hope that you're hearing all the words I say to you
You can talk to me
Anytime that you feel the pain
I'll take the strain (You can talk to)
You can talk to me
Anytime I can help you out
Give me a shout
You can talk to me
Oh yeah
Don't you think that maybe I should calm down?
I'm sick of staring at these walls, I'm gonna kick 'em down
I was feeling alone, getting cold
And I feel like a natural born killer
Boring holes and cheap polyfiller
And I borrowed 50 dollars to ring you
To tell you, everything is alright
You can talk to me
Anytime that you feel the pain
I'll take the strain (You can talk to)
You can talk to me
Anytime I can help you out
Give me a shout
You can talk to me
Oh yeah-yeah-yeah
You know, you know, you know
You can talk to me
Oh yeah-yeah-yeah
Well come on, come on, come on, come on
You can talk to me
Anytime I can help you out
Give me a shout
You can talk to me
Anytime that you feel the pain
I'll take the strain
You can talk to meeeeeeeeeeeeee
The Seahorses’ “You Can Talk to Me” is a song that speaks about the desire for connection and communication in a world that can feel overwhelming and lonely. The opening line, “Don't you think that maybe I should slow down?” suggests a sense of restlessness and anxiety that the singer is feeling, which has caused him to write down his thoughts and pick up the phone to reach out to someone. The chorus is an invitation for the listener to do the same when they are feeling pain or distress: “You can talk to me, anytime that you feel the pain, I’ll take the strain.”
The verses detail the singer’s struggles with feeling bored, trapped, and disconnected from others. He mentions feeling like a “natural born killer,” representing the pent-up aggression and frustration that can emerge when one is grappling with feeling alone. Despite these struggles, the singer is trying to push forward by breaking down the walls that have kept him locked in and calling out for help from those around him.
Overall, “You Can Talk to Me” is a hopeful song that acknowledges the difficulties of modern life, but also suggests that there is always the possibility for connection and support from others. By opening up about his own struggles, the singer is encouraging others to do the same and offering himself as a listening ear for those who need it.

God I miss the 90's so much. I used to scoff at my parents when they would talk about the 70's but as you get older you do realise how amazing certain periods of your life were and remember just how good they were. The music, clothes, attitude and metting like minded people are days I miss so much. The Seahorses and this song are definitely background music to my life story.

This song should be a mental health anthem. I often head here when it's all a bit shonky. Thanks, The Seahorses
