Their 60s hits included: "I'll Never Find Another You", "A World of Our Own" , "The Carnival is Over" (which the Seekers sung at various closing ceremonies in Australia, including Expo '88 and the Paralympics), "Someday One Day", "Walk With Me", "Morningtown Ride", and "When Will The Good Apples Fall". Their tune "Georgy Girl" in particular served as the title song of the film of the same name. These songs have had significant airplay on 'oldies' radio stations over the years.
Bruce Woodley and The Rain, The Park and Other Things's "I Am Australian", which has been recorded by The Seekers, and by singer Judith Durham with Russell Hitchcock and Mandauway Yunupingu, has become an unofficial Australian anthem.
Come The Day
The Seekers Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
You'll hear it with the sleep still in your eyes
You'll waken to a brand new day
Can you hear bells ringin'
Voices singin'
Far away?
A time when every man will be as one
Come the day
Freedom's still a thought within your mind
The fleeting thing that some may never find
It may be still a million miles away
Can you hear bells ringin'
Voices singin'
Far away?
A time to live without doubt or fear
Welcome to the happy world that will be here
Come the day
The trumpets of war will cease to blow
The sound I hope that we may never know
We're waiting for the day
Can you hear bells ringin'
Voices singin'
Far away?
Lift up your voices and sing this song
Let the whole world hear it loud and strong
Can you hear bells ringin'
Voices singin'
Far away?
The Seekers' "Come The Day" speaks of a hopeful and optimistic future where freedom and unity will reign. The opening lines suggest that a new era is about to dawn, where a song will rise that will awaken people from their slumber. This imagery is symbolic of a spiritual awakening, where people will experience a rebirth and see the world anew. As the song progresses, it becomes clear that the new day of which the singer speaks is one of freedom and unity. Every man will be as one, and the world will be a happy place free of doubt and fear. The lyrics call for an end to war, and a future where the bells ring and voices sing in harmony, far away from the trumpets of war.
The ending of the song speaks to the power of music and the importance of unity. The lyrics call for people to join together and lift up their voices in song, so that the whole world can hear. In this way, the song becomes a unifying force, bringing people together regardless of their differences. Overall, "Come The Day" is an uplifting and inspiring song, rich with imagery and symbolism that speaks to the power of hope and the transformative nature of music.

Today's female singers can't touch Judith Durham's perfect pitch and her great soprano voice. What a singer!

@Rollf PetersJudith went to the Melbourne University Conservatorium before the Seekers became huge, around early 60s, where Judith was formaĺly studying opera singing and piano. She plays the piano masterfully too, though one rarely sees it. Maybe try the YouTube of her version of Nola for a real treat.
