Their 60s hits included: "I'll Never Find Another You", "A World of Our Own" , "The Carnival is Over" (which the Seekers sung at various closing ceremonies in Australia, including Expo '88 and the Paralympics), "Someday One Day", "Walk With Me", "Morningtown Ride", and "When Will The Good Apples Fall". Their tune "Georgy Girl" in particular served as the title song of the film of the same name. These songs have had significant airplay on 'oldies' radio stations over the years.
Bruce Woodley and The Rain, The Park and Other Things's "I Am Australian", which has been recorded by The Seekers, and by singer Judith Durham with Russell Hitchcock and Mandauway Yunupingu, has become an unofficial Australian anthem.
One World Love
The Seekers Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Our minds a slate so saturate
Overthought and underpaid
Line up for the shit parade
(I don't want to) fear the world
Soak up shut up feed your face
The future is a cartoon race
Put your hand out hold the rail
(I don't want to) fear the world
Look ahead but don't forget
If it's no then just say yes
Turn the pages - read the book
If you want to see it take a look
(I don't want to) fear the world
The Seekers' song "Don" is a commentary on the contrasting emotions of love and hate and their coexistence in our lives. The opening lines, "Love and hate - connected fate, Our minds a slate so saturate," suggest that these two emotions are inextricably linked and that they shape our personalities and experiences. The following lines emphasize the impact of negative thoughts and behaviors, "Overthought and underpaid, Line up for the shit parade," and the need to avoid succumbing to fear and passivity, "Soak up shut up feed your face, The future is a cartoon race."
The song then addresses the importance of forging ahead despite challenges and taking control of one's life, "Put your hand out hold the rail, Sorry for the human fail," while emphasizing the need to adopt a positive outlook and not fear the unknown, "Look ahead but don't forget, If it's no then just say yes, Turn the pages - read the book, If you want to see it take a look." The repetition of the refrain "I don't want to fear the world" further reinforces the song's message of moving forward with courage and resilience.
Overall, "Don" encourages listeners to embrace the complexities of life with both love and hate, but to avoid giving in to fear and negativity. It champions a narrative of hope and perseverance, urging individuals to take an active role in shaping their own destinies.

My first exposure to Judith and the Seekers was when I was in Vietnam 66-67. The Armed Forces Radio would play Australian stations for the Aussie troops. One day I heard the most beautiful music that I had ever heard. I asked an Aussie who the group was and he told me it was the Seekers. Since that time I try to follow them. When I start having flashbacks I go to YouTube and look for their music which helps me to help deal with flashbacks. God Bless them.

This is such a beautifully structured song with a superbly executed modulation giving the melodic and lyrical flow a very satisfying boost and conclusion. Judith is an exceptional tunesmith and should be quite proud of all her music. jtk🍁

ONE WORLD LOVE has to be one of my favorite songs, I could listen to this song over and over, the music and words are lovely, just like my Savior, Jesus. Thank YOU MY LORD,

Can't stop playing this, it's such a beautiful song ... what a brilliant voice Judith has , pitch perfect ... and great back up from the boys yet again.

I can only agree with you, I sometimes listen to it twice in a row - this melody and Judith's voice just fit together brilliantly. It's always an experience to listen to Judith & the guys....they were for me the best live band next to the Bee Gees.
But the 5th of August of the year 2022 was the saddest day of the year for me, when the news came that Judith had passed away. May she rest in peace. 🙏🥺

Judith wrote this beautiful piece of music. Does her talent never end? I hope not.

Beautiful lyrics, beautiful melody sung by the composer, Judith Durham. What a profound message! Yes, let us all dream and pray for One World Love. We are all one people. I am looking forward to the day that we can all live in peace and harmony and love. Let all religions and all people come together and be one. Amen

We wouldn't have this unbridling & inviting song if The Seekers did not start out as Gospel Singers. Absolutely get into it. Don't understand modern music, probably cuz it's just noise. Pointless in many an aspect.
