The Servant was a London-based alternative band who were popular in Britain, France and Italy, as well as other European countries. In November 2007, the band announced through their MySpace blog that they were to split up. Their singles include Orchestra, Liquefy, Cells, and How to Destroy a Relationship. They share the singer, Dan Black, with Planet Funk.
Despite growing international demand, they had chosen to focus on strengthening their European audience before globe trotting. Their first introduction to an American audience was an instrumental version of their song Cells, featured in trailers for the film, Sin City. (The instrumental version of Cells is not on the Sin City soundtrack, but it can be downloaded via their website.) Cells was also used in the film Transporter 2, along with their song, Body. Since the Sin City trailers there has been significant U.S. interest in their records and demands for live concerts.
They released their second album, How to Destroy a Relationship, in October 2006 in Switzerland, Italy, and France.

They'll take you into the past
Later on I'll come to turn you into paper
It makes you want to run so fast
Get down
Get down
Desperately they'll come to try to prove you?re crazy
All across the town a fire is raging
Close your mouth and shut your eyes
Get down
Get down
Your friend crept through the school tasting of confetti
Smoke swirled for his eyes
He broke into the pool with a fist of spaghetti
He lay himself upon the tiles
Get down
Get down
Or get up
Get up
The song "Get Down" by The Servant talks about the desperation that people face in times of danger and chaos. It begins by talking about desperate men who come to make you safe, but end up taking you into the past. The reference to the past could indicate that they take you back to a time when you were safe, before everything went wrong. The next line says that later on, the singer will come to turn you into paper. This line could be interpreted in different ways, but one possible meaning is that he will come to help you become invisible or unnoticed, like a piece of paper that blends in with its surroundings. The chorus repeats the words "get down" as a command for survival.
The second verse continues with the theme of desperation and chaos. The desperate men are now trying to prove that you're crazy, but the singer will try to show that you're actually wise. The mention of a fire raging across the town adds to the sense of danger and urgency. The singer advises you to close your mouth and shut your eyes, possibly to avoid inhaling smoke or witnessing the destruction around you.
The third verse introduces a surreal image of a friend who crept through the school tasting of confetti. This line could be interpreted as a metaphor for someone who seems happy and carefree despite the chaos and danger. The smoke that swirled for his eyes suggests that he's not immune to the effects of the chaos, but he still manages to find joy in small things like confetti. The line about breaking into the pool with a fist of spaghetti is another surreal image that could mean different things. It could be about breaking into a place of refuge using unlikely means, or it could be about finding comfort in food during stressful times. The last line of the verse repeats the command "get down" but also adds "get up" as an alternative, suggesting that survival requires both hiding and fighting.

Beautiful melody. This is the song that should play when someone busts into a store wildly shooting at everyone.
