"From the prairie city of Saskatoon, Canada come the Sheepdogs, 4 young gentlemen who revel in the joy of rock n roll so wholeheartedly, it's downright contagious. Sporting the long-haired looks of their musical forefathers, the lads make the most of their 2 guitars, bass and drums combo. Soulful vocalizations, everybody harmonizing, old-school guitar chops winding, riffing and chiming, and a grooving rhythm section that keeps it all going. Having already cemented their reputation as dynamic performers in their hometown, the Sheepdogs now turn their attention to spreading their affection for rock n roll cross-country. They have spent the last year covering the great white north, playing from Vancouver island to Montreal. They have played festivals, headlined a bill during 2007's Junofest, opened for the likes of Matt Mays and el Torpedo, and performed before thousands at 2006's Saskatoon Centennial Celebration. In January 2007 they released their debut LP Trying to Grow, a collection of guitar-driven originals that recall classic rockers like the Stones, CCR, and the Kinks. The album's title-track was featured in a province-wide campaign in their native Saskatchewan. Early 2008 has already seen the completion of their follow-up album, which mixes elements of southern rock and moody soul with gleeful straight-forward rockers. Once again, the boys are hitting the road, spreading their rock n roll revival to the rest of Canada."

Nothing All Of The Time
The Sheepdogs Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Live off town
Always on my mind
But I feel nothing all of the time
Get away from from nothing there
Not so hard to find
But I feel nothing all of the time
Well if you feel like running around the lights on honey
She's asking me if it get down, well I don't know
You keep making it up to yourself
Well that's dangerous for your health
From back home there's these tales coming in
I hear some brothers exaggerate a bit
If I keep workin' on, workin' on
I just might find enough of it
At the speed of sound my friends get down, at least the feel something at all
Frantically
Live off town
Always on my mind
But I feel nothing all of the time
Yeah
At the speed of sound my friends get down, at least the feel something at all
Patiently
Live off town
Always on my mind
But I feel nothing all of the time
Get away from nothing there
Not so hard to find
But I feel nothing all of the time
Yeah
The Sheepdogs's song "Nothing All Of The Time" delves into the theme of feeling disconnected and numb from life even when it appears everything is going according to plan. The singer expresses a sense of emptiness and lack of fulfillment despite his efforts to be productive and stay occupied. In the first verse, he states that he lives patiently and in a small town, but shares that he feels empty all of the time despite always having something on his mind.
The second verse depicts a scene where the singer is asked if he wants to go out to "run around the lights" by a woman. He responds that he doesn't know if it's worth it since he feels like he's making things up for himself, which he realizes is dangerous for his health. He then talks about tales coming from his hometown that he's hearing, highlighting that even if he keeps working, he's not sure if he'll find what he's looking for.
The chorus repeats twice, with the singer expressing his numbness "all of the time" despite the possibility of finding something to fill the emptiness. Thus, "Nothing All Of The Time" is a song that speaks to feelings of dissatisfaction and disillusionment despite appearances, and the struggle to find meaning and purpose in life.

Jings, this is really lovely. The 'Dogs can rock when they want, but it's nice when they stretch a little to play songs like this. Music to listen to, as opposed to merely hear. Looking forward to The Danforth shows.
