1) The Shining were an English rock band formed in 2002. The band comprised of Duncan Baxter (Vocals), Dan MacBean (Guitar), Mark Heaney (Drums / ex-threshold, ex-the seahorses), Simon Jones (Bass) and Simon Tong (Guitar, Keyboards), the latter two both ex-members of The Verve. The bands originally featured former The Stone Roses-guitarist John Squire, however he chose to leave the group early in the band's lifetime. Lack of interest and motivation on Squire's part were reasons cited to this decision. They released the three singles "Quicksilver", "I Wonder How" and "Young Again" throughout 2002, and then their first album "True Skies", all of which were minor successes. They split in 2003. In 2007 The Verve reunited with Simon Jones, but not with Simon Tong who currently plays in the 2 bands the good, the bad & the queen and transmission.
2) The Shining is a dutch trash metal / punk band formed in 2001 in Amsterdam.
3) The Shining was a goth band from Birmingham, UK, cold, synth-heavy, droning, drowning and quite bleakly glorious all in all. They were active again around 1990 - 1991, and are now generally totally unknown, outside of a few people who were around that scene and associated at that time.

Young Again
The Shining Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Of a thousand fields dressed in green
And it only takes a moment for myself
Til I find what it really means
Well I thought that I saw you yesterday
And I finally found a break or two
Always dying to be near your faded words
And I know I can make it
Just like I did before
And I know your minds such a sweet thing
Fate has no shore
I feel young again
And I feel young again
Yes I feel young again
And I feel young again
No way to communicate
You've got arms that I need to hold
I got asked for my fears yes I did
Do you wanna know what I told
That I know I can make it
Just like I did before
And I know your minds such a sweet thing
Fate has no shore
I feel young again.....(play out)
The lyrics to The Shining's song "Young Again" convey a sense of nostalgia and longing. The song begins with the singer's mental image of "a thousand fields dressed in green," symbolizing a dream-like state or a memory of a blissful past. This image triggers an introspective moment for the singer, who realizes the importance of finding meaning in the present. The singer then shares their desire to reconnect with someone from their past, someone whose words have faded but still hold a special place in their heart. The repetition of the phrase "And I know I can make it just like I did before" suggests a determination to overcome any obstacles and recapture the same sense of youthfulness and optimism, even in the face of uncertainty.
The chorus of the song, where the singer repeats "I feel young again," reinforces the idea of reclaiming vitality and the sense of being alive, regardless of age or circumstances. The lyrics also touch upon the barriers to communication, as the singer describes the need to hold someone close but not being able to reach them. The bridge of the song reiterates the singer's confidence in their ability to overcome challenges and suggests that fate is not a predetermined path, but rather a sea of endless possibilities.
"Young Again" is a song that speaks to the universal experience of searching for meaning and connection, and the desire to recapture a sense of youthfulness, energy, and passion.
