Let Go
The Shroud Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
They fade away into the distance
Turn into dreams
Stories of the past
That inspire the future
You will speak of this one day
All of my lives come and go
Everything will change
What was once will be no more
And go away
Shifting its shape into a memory
You will speak of this one day
All of my lives come and go
Ever shaping the world I know
Spinning and changing in ebb and flow
Take a breath and then gently let go
The lyrics to The Shroud's song Let Go are a beautiful reflection on the fleeting nature of life and the importance of accepting change. The first two lines suggest that although some things may not literally die, they still fade away and become a distant memory. These distant memories become stories of the past that can continue to inspire the future. The repetition of "You will speak of this one day" gives the impression that these memories and stories will be told and retold by generations to come.
In the second verse, the song expands on the idea of impermanence and change. Everything will eventually change and what was once important or relevant will be no more. However, even as things shift and change, they remain as a memory, shaping the world we know. The line "All of my lives come and go" reinforces the idea that we all have different experiences and moments throughout our lives that shape who we are and what we believe. Finally, the chorus encourages listeners to take a breath and let go - to accept change and embrace the ebb and flow of life.
Overall, the lyrics to Let Go are a beautiful reflection on the fleeting nature of life and the importance of accepting change. They encourage us to hold onto memories and stories while also recognizing that everything eventually changes and fades away.
