1. Combining modern dark rock sounds with a neo-pagan slant, the Shroud weaves an irresistible spell. First manifesting on Halloween of 1991, they have been enchanting listeners ever since.
In addition to four releases of their own, the Shroud have appeared on numerous compilations and tribute albums, a video compilation, and in books on the gothic underground.
The Shroud consists of five unique and accomplished musicians. The combination of their talents creates an aural landscape filled with changeable moods and mysterious imagery. They reflect our world like rippling water -- forever shifting, a dark and soft edged picture that leaves more to the imagination than to the senses.
2. Southern California Hardcore band with short songs clocking in around the 1:30 minute mark.
Formed in late 2009/Early 2010 and comprising members of many previous & current local bands; they have just recorded their debut demo (as of April '10).

The Shroud Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Quite unexpected in this everyday place
Never thought I'd follow something so familiar
Till I felt you calling me
Heard my sisters' voices
Singing a song that I hear in my heart
Though the words are foreign I know their meaning
Blood and bones and falling leaves
Earth and rain will cover me
Take up the sword
Cut down the outside walls
Tear away this outward mask
And at last join the dance
Blood and bones and falling leaves
Earth and rain will cover me
I have found my way home
I have found my way...
The lyrics to The Shroud's song Pixy-Led paint a picture of unexpected moments of clarity and belonging in the midst of the mundane. The opening lines describe the surprise of seeing someone you know in an everyday place, and the feeling of being called to follow them, despite the familiarity of their presence. The next stanza shifts gears to talk about the power of music to connect people, even if they are from different cultures, as the singer hears a foreign song that resonates with their soul. The final stanza is a call to shed the trappings of the daily grind, to cut down the walls that keep us from truly living, and to join in the dance of life. The repetition of the phrase "blood and bones and falling leaves" reinforces the idea that life is fleeting, but also beautiful and worth celebrating.
