SAVIOR
The Shys Lyrics

Savior
Well they loved you and owned you but nobody stake the claim Then they held you up high until they secretly spit on your name Now you just can't see how all the greed and deception broke trust
But there is proof in your faith when there silver and gold turns to rust
I feel just like I found my savior I feel just like I found my savior
No suffering can be found I'm taking off this heavy crown
Well I've witnessed this struggle I've suffered these lessons with you
We put our faith in man and they shoot you right down where you stand
Its no mystery burdens have faded our hope No wonder you're crying and trying to cope with the shame End all this pain
I feel just like found my savior
I feel just like I found my savior
No suffering can be found I'm taking off this heavy crown
I feel just like I found my savior
I feel just like I found my savior

Don't you feel that you've found it?
You know I've found my savior

Overall Meaning

The Shys’ song “Savior” is a commentary on the disillusionment that comes with the loss of faith in institutions and people that are meant to be trustworthy. The opening lines talk about how once someone has been owned and loved, they are eventually left with nobody taking responsibility for them. This is perhaps a reference to how society places people on pedestals, only to tear them down eventually. Even though people around may pretend to support them, they would secretly spit on their name. The song goes on to talk about how people put their faith in others, only to be betrayed in the end, leaving them hopeless and struggling. There is a reference to greed and deception breaking trust, causing pain and dragging one down. In this context, a savior is someone who can help one rise above this kind of deception and eventually allow them to move towards a place of no suffering.

The singer expresses finding their savior and explains that they no longer feel the heavy burden that they used to. They mention how by witnessing struggles and suffering, they have put their faith in man, only to be let down. But they have now found someone or something that has helped them find a way out of this situation. They invite others to feel the same and find their own savior who can help them through tough times.
