The Skoidats formed in the summer of 1995 in Helena, Montana. Soon after their inception, they relocated to Missoula, Montana, losing two members in the move. After arriving in Missoula, the three original Skoidats placed an ad in the paper to find a new horn section. It was soon answered by two members of the University of Montana marching band. They were the first and only horn players to be auditioned. Since robbing the University of Montana marching band of two members, this five piece toured the country four times and played with many well-known ska- and oi-bands. The Skoidats broke up in 2001, the band lives spread all over the world this day.
Unlike many Ska bands, The Skoidats sound varied greatly from song to song, pleasing Oi! fans as well as traditional Ska fans. It was rare to see someone standing still at a Skoidats show as their energy was impossible to ignore. The skoidats played loud and hard and often sang about traditional punk and skins topics such as fighting, having sex, and drinking.
Night of the Droogs

Another fight, but Droogies don't fear
This is the night, night of the Droogs
This is an ode to the Droogies I say
Foreign dignitaries come down under to play
Ricochet, rebound, split package farce
Give us strength to fight another day
When we're on the prowl
The nerdies hit the decks
Velvet Elvis, gun toting, Bourbon Street wrecks
Strength in numbers, fly high
Killing east and west
Boot ska warriors will always pass the test
A steel-toed print on a wilted scene
Droogies don't pick it up. We kick and scream!
Gigging hard in your face
Weeks of sleeping on floors, creepy crawler space
No I'm not a squatter, I'm sure not a fake
Just living like an outlaw for music's sake
Snap, crack, broken backs, that's the way it was
Was no playing around, we were out for blood. Blood!
Sun goes down. Droogies hit the town
Boots are thumping in the pub, we know you hear the sound
Night is young and black, Droogies got my back
We came out to party but we're ready to attack
This is the night, the night of the Droogs!
We claimed our Droogie corner
Keeping cool and playing pool
But spill my suds, I'll spill your blood
That's our barroom rule
So don't you come in here
And try to strike fear
Because in a chug I'll drain my mug
And smash it on your ear
We're only here for lots of beer, the music and the laughter
But if your girl gets loud with us it's you we're coming after.
So realize when we stomp you down and hear your girlfriend scream
I7 and the Skoidats make a horrorshow team.
Sun goes down, Droogies all around
Boots are thumping in the pub, we know you fear the sound
Beer will be flowing to all the Skinheads
And blood will be flowing like Clockwork Red
This is the night, the night of the Droogs
Another fight, but Droogies don't fear
This is the night, night of the Droogs
Droogies!
The Skoidats's song Night of the Droogs is an anthem-like celebration of the Droogies, a group of rebellious youths who adopt an anarchic, violent lifestyle in the face of societal constraints. The opening lines set the scene for a night of fighting and chaos, with the Droogies as the singers who will not back down. The chorus repeats the theme of the Droogies' fearless attitude: "Another fight, but Droogies don't fear / This is the night, night of the Droogs."
The song celebrates the Droogies' way of life and their close-knit community, with lyrics that reference their favorite activities (playing pool, drinking beer) and their willingness to defend themselves against anyone who threatens them. The lyrics also make references to popular culture, with nods to A Clockwork Orange (the phrase "clockwork red" and the use of the word "droogie," which comes from the book/film) and Elvis Presley (the mention of a "Velvet Elvis").
Overall, Night of the Droogs captures the spirit of a rebellious subculture that values strength, unity, and defiance. The song celebrates the Droogies as working-class heroes who fight against conformity and oppression.
