Barbarism Begins At Home
by The Smiths

Unruly boys
Who will not grow up
Must be taken in hand
Unruly girls
Who will not settle down
They must be taken in hand

A crack on the head
Is what you get for not asking
And a crack on the head
Is what you get for asking

Unruly boys
Who will not grow up
Must be taken in hand
Unruly girls
Who will not settle down
They must be taken in hand

A crack on the head
Is what you get for not asking
And a crack on the head
Is what you get for asking

No...a crack on the head
Is what you get for not asking
And a crack on the head
Is what you get for asking

A crack on the head
Is just what you get
Why? Because of who you are!
And a crack on the head
Is just what you get
Why? Because of what you are!
A crack on the head
Because of :
Those things you said
Things you said
The things you did

Unruly boys
Who will not grow
Must be taken in hand
Unruly girls
Who will not grow
They must be taken in hand
Ah...oh, no...oh, no
Ah...oh, no...oh, no
No...no, no, no
No...no, no

@lars Olofsson actually marr said that rourke wrote most of the basslines xD

lars Olofsson

Shame Rourke only got 10% of the smiths earnings, but then again Im pretty sure in the interview of the creation of Meat is murder John Marr said that he wrote most of the basslines.

Think about this song all the time... Barbarism really does begin at home. Kids grow up in abusive households, never learn how to manage their emotions, and use anger and violence as their only outlet, and spread their personally experienced pain to their children and people they’re close to like a plague.

And they work jobs, become integrated parts of society, vote, and advocate for their pained, despairing, violent, and barbaric view of the world.

Kindness and compassion are our greatest virtues, never lose sight of that.

I grew up in one, I can barely feel emotions but music and my friends help me actually feel

Barbarism is the default human condition man

@K Pete Aw, come on! We've had all that for decades. What are you talking about?
