Act IV: You Don't Need a Witness
The Sound of Animals Fighting Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Before, I would've let you know
Your intentions seem right
For now I feel content with what we've done
For now I feel content with what we've...
Thank you for the answers
At the bottom of that
You said all the things you could say
What about the base runners
We've settled on a distance
It's glorious
It's glorious
This is my reaction to your mistake
Just lead the way to your fate
I'm begging for attention I've opened the door
Your picture frame is cracked
And we've warned you
The picture frame is cracked
I keep on wanting you to find
Your picture frame is cracked
I give one more year

Thank you for the answers
At the bottom of that
You said all the things you could say
What about the base runners
We've settled on a distance
It's glorious
It's glorious
This is my reaction to your mistake

Just lead the way to your fate
I'm begging for attention I've opened the door

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of The Sound of Animals Fighting's song Act IV: You Don't Need a Witness is a reflection of an inner conflict. The song is about a person who may have felt content with something they did, but eventually realized it was a mistake. The lines, "For now I feel content with what we've done, Thank you for the answers at the bottom of that," express this feeling of momentary satisfaction. The repetition of "What about the base runners, we've settled on a distance, It's glorious, it's glorious" may be questioning the consequences of actions and whether or not the decisions made were worth it.

The lyrics also seem to reveal some sort of betrayal or broken trust, with the mention of a "picture frame is cracked" and "begging for attention, I've opened the door." The line "Just lead the way to your fate" may suggest that the singer is now giving control to the other person to decide their fate. Overall, the song seems to be a conversation between two people in which the singer is struggling to come to terms with their actions and the resulting consequences.

When I first heard this I was confused because this was the same riff from Chasing Suns I thought I had bought a bootleg version

@nugboy420

Hahahahahaha. I’m coming back to this after more than a decade and completely forgot about it. I didn’t even know which tracks were which I just clicked a few from this album and got pulled back to 2008/9 when all I did was listen to this style music.
