Still can't get used to Carlos without CT. But David Matthews is no slouch. Santana has always rotated musicians throughout the years, so I can't complain. Great stuff all the way around right here. And people just need to stop with the "who's better" stuff. Carlos and McLaughlin are both about the music first and foremost. Just enjoy it people!

Thanks for posting this awesome live, performance. I do agreeJohn Mac, ( guitar physicist) does bring out the best in Carlos, -- this music is fucking wonderful. John Mac, is one of the greatest fusion/dissonance players ever & Carlos is the most flavor ful & colorful in his runs, a perfect match - these 2, > remember Flame Sky!!!! This is just as good, just different.

Je n'ai rien contre Santana que j'aime depuis des décénies, mais là franchement il est comme un ado qu'on lui a offert une guitare, rien à voir avec le majestueux l'imperturbable mclaughlin. Et l'autre Santana à la batterie, qu'elle s'éclipse et laisse chambers faire son boulot.

+Burt472 I'm not sure, but it looks possibly like Sri Yukteswar, the guru of Paramahansa Yogananda. I fully expected Guru Sri Chinmoy who Santana and McLaughlin followed in the 70s, but it evidently isn't.

+gmccaber This is my impression since ever. But we shouldn´t compare this two guys with each other. Each of them gave the world so much influence with their music. They talk to different parts of my soul ... Carlos is easy, he´s carried along with his sound, while John seems to know exactly what he´s heading for. He pushes me so far - nearly over the limit. After listening to "Industrial Zen" I couldn´t play guitar for a few months because this music was so mindstorming that I first had to assimilate it. It was awesome.

I picked up a CD called "Santana's Greatest Instrumentals" or some such, I think I was getting some rarer things from the same seller and I will often scoot to the "also for sale" button - I've picked up some lovely surprises there. And, I mean, "Song of the Wind" and "Europa" - you'd have to be blind and crazy as well as deaf not to tingle the synapses there. But when you bang 'em out all in a row like that, they're AWFULLY similar, even to the point of "ascending bit here" and "into the bridge" there... he basically put one on each of all those albums that... you didn't need to buy because he just kept re-writing the same five songs, forever and ever. But when I was a little junior grublet just picking up guitar, Santana and Duane Allman were the sound that went right THROUGH me - that giant foghorn sound. I'm glad he was there doing what he did when he did it. And I'm glad he's not living under a bridge. It's just not my money that's keeping him afloat. There is SO MUCH great new music out, every year, it almost seems like FASTER than ever. My latest find - "Consider the Source." Mahavishnu Ork plays Zorba the Greek....
