Venus
The Starlite Orchestra & Singers Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Hey, Venus! Oh, Venus!
Hey, Venus! Oh, Venus!

Venus, if you will
Please send a little girl for me to thrill
A girl who wants my kisses and my arms
A girl with all the charms of you
Venus, make her fair
A lovely girl with sunlight in her hair
And take the brightest stars up in the skies
And place them in her eyes for me

Venus, goddess of love that you are
Surely the things I ask
Can't be too great a task

Venus, if you do
I promise that I always will be true
I'll give her all the love I have to give
As long as we both shall live

Hey, Venus! Oh, Venus!
Make my dreams come true

Hey, Venus! Oh, Venus!

Carlos plays a vast majority of the main melodic headlines.
He has a much more fluid, profuse and dynamic melodic range.
McLaughlin actually inspired Jimi Hendrix to get into Fusion.
Before he passed Hendrix had booked studio time from
Miles Davis' producers and engineers. Though not without
Kramer I'm sure. read 'Electric Gypsy.' Jimi bio.
Steve Vai would make a good match, Al Di Meola another.
McLaughlin 'Visions of the Emerald Beyond' is still an all time favorite.
Tony Williams Lifetime with Alan Holdsworth also.

The best ‘live’ interplay between these great guitarists I’ve heard

Gebre Menfes Kidus

Still can't get used to Carlos without CT. But David Matthews is no slouch. Santana has always rotated musicians throughout the years, so I can't complain. Great stuff all the way around right here. And people just need to stop with the "who's better" stuff. Carlos and McLaughlin are both about the music first and foremost. Just enjoy it people!

CT's a legend, but David Matthews is the real deal. And yes, gratitude's the only legit reaction to this whole blissful performance.
