They began as The Buckeyes around 1955 with members Bruce Robinson and Ronnie Collins, and released two singles on the Cincinnati label Deluxe Records in 1957. In 1959 the group added Leroy Swearingen and released their first single as The Stereos, "A Love for Only You"; it flopped, and Swearingen left the group to be replaced by Nathaniel Hicks.[1] Swearingen, however, wrote the song "I Really Love You", which became their biggest hit, peaking at #15 on the U.S. Black Singles chart and #29 on the Billboard Hot 100.[2] They continued releasing singles up until 1968, none of which came close to reaching the success of "I Really Love You".

Joe Henderson “Snap Your Fingers” sounds just as Good as it did in 1962. A true “Do Woop” in 1962 Sound to me. A great record then - A great record in 2023. Music like this “Never” gets OLD. We will be playing this in 2888. I think the music from the 1950’S - 1960’S - 1970’s. Will never die - The future generation needs some of this good stuff.

*Hello Angel, I haven't been here for few days so i had a number of songs to listen to. This is the one that works the best for me. I have always liked the Doo Wop sound. It picks you up even if it's a sad song. Joe Henderson's voice is amazing. So this will be my pick for today.

As a fan of Joe's, I decided to record it in Nashville, TN and the musician who played on his project, also played on mine. I wrote some new lyrics, a great bunch of musicians and singers made it a blues/rock song. It was included on my album. I licensed it with Fox, and Sony.

"Snap Your Fingers" became a hit because Joe Henderson was an obvious Brook Benton sound-alike, a fact not lost on the song's producer, Paul Cohen, who instructed orchestra director Cliff Parman to give "Snap" the feel of a Benton tune. Radio DJs were then shipped copies of the freshly-pressed record with instructions to play "Snap" without providing listeners with the singer's name. Station phone lines were promptly flooded with requests to play "that new Brook Benton song"...

In 1960, Gordon Terry recorded a hit, called, "Almost Alone." We played it on the radio and everyone wanted to hear the new Jim Reeves record. Reeves made RCA recall the record after three weeks. It's here on my channel.

A nice example of a good top 40 tune from the pre-Motown, pre-brit-Invasion top 40 with a bit more funk and soul than many of the rest, I was around in 62 and don't remember hearing it, but didn't follow radio very much til those 4 boys from ?? where was it? London? Manchester? Liverpool?
