All for One
The Stone Roses Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

All for one, one for all
If we all join hands, we'll make a wall

All for one, one for all
If we all join hands, we'll make a wall

All for one, one for all
If we all join hands, we'll make a wall

Inside of me, for I to see
In harmony, all designed to be
The mystery, all eyes to see
Chemistry, all one family

All for one, one for all
If we take a stand, we shall not fall

Inside of me, for I to see
In harmony, all designed to be
The mystery, all eyes to see
Chemistry, all one family

Beside of me, all over me
Behind of me, right in front of me
Inside of me, for I to see
In harmony, all one family

Inside of me, for I to see
In harmony, all designed to be
The mystery, all eyes to see
Chemistry, all one family

All for one, one for all
If we all join hands, we'll make a wall

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to The Stone Roses’ “All For One” are an ode to unity among humanity. The repeated refrain of “all for one, one for all” is reminiscent of the famous quote by Alexandre Dumas in The Three Musketeers: “all for one, and one for all.” The message of the song is clear: if we all come together, we can build a strong and impenetrable wall of support and solidarity.

The lyrics go on to suggest that this unity is already within us. The lines “inside of me, for I to see” and “beside of me, all over me, behind of me, right in front of me” imply that the bonds of community are innate within us and surround us on all sides. The “mystery” and “chemistry” alluded to in the lyrics suggest that these bonds are not fully understood, but still deeply felt.

The song’s message is one of hope and positivity in a world often plagued by division and discord. It encourages listeners to put aside their differences and come together in order to build a stronger, more united community.

This track like all of their music ages like fine wine. These guys made an incredible body of work. They will always be untouchable sonically... Been rocking my universe for 30 plus years!

Well, I'm a huge fan Stone Roses fan, they're one of my all time favourite bands, this is a good song, catchy and all, but it doesn't compare to their old stuff in my opinion, in a few years I'm still gonna be listening to "I am the resurrection, this is the one, fools gold, i wanna be adored" etc on a regular basis, this one, I'm not so sure, I hope their new album kicks ass though!

The SickNeeds

This is a great track. I find Second Coming to be quite dreadful and hard to listen to even when skipping tracks to get to something worthwhile.

If only we could see the future from 2 years back.... 😭😭😭😭

+Jacob Mothman There's about 3 solid songs on second coming but the rest is just messy/ boring...that's why
Whereas debut album is very tight and focused and every song shines.

It still baffles me that people don't rate Second Coming, each to their own I guess but it still gets a lot of play from me
