The Stone Roses released their second album, Second Coming, in 1994, which received mixed reviews. The group soon disbanded after several line-up changes throughout the supporting tour, which began with Reni departing in early 1995, followed by Squire in April 1996. Brown and Mani dissolved the remains of the group in October 1996 following their appearance at Reading Festival.
Following much intensified media speculation, the Stone Roses called a press conference on 18 October 2011 to announce that the band had reunited and would perform a reunion world tour in 2012, including three homecoming shows in Heaton Park, Manchester. Plans to record a third album in the future were also floated but only two singles were released. In June 2012, Chris Coghill, the writer of a new film which is set during the Stone Roses 1990 Spike Island show, revealed that the band "have at least three or four new tracks recorded". In June 2013, a documentary about the band's reformation directed by Shane Meadows and titled The Stone Roses: Made of Stone was released.
In 2016, the Stone Roses released their first new material in two decades. The band members continued to tour until June 2017, at which point cryptic remarks by Brown indicated the band had split again, which was later confirmed in a 2019 interview with Squire.

Phone signs in the hall
This boy's dead from two days life
Resurrected by the call
Penny here we've got to croon
So come on round to me
There's so such fanny, lying here
To touch taste and feel
Penny's place a crummy room
Her dansette crackles to Jimi's tune
I don't care I taste Ambre Solaire
Her neck, her thighs, her lips, her hair
Ring-a-ding-ding-ding, I'm going down, I'm coming round
All thoughts of sleep desert me, there is no time
Twenty minutes brings me round to her number 9
There she looks like a painting
Jackson Pollock's number five
Come into the forest and taste the trees
The sun starts shining and I'm hard to please
Ring-a-ding-ding-ding, I'm going down, I'm coming round
All thoughts of sleep desert me, there is no time
Twenty minutes brings me round to her number 9
To look down from the clouds you don't need to fly
I've never flown in a plane
I'll live until I die
The Stone Roses's song Going Down makes use of vivid and poetic language to describe a man going on a drug trip with a woman named Penny. Dawn sings in the garden as the singer receives phone signs in the hall, suggesting that drugs are a part of his daily routine. The singer feels like he is "dead from two days life", implying that he is feeling trapped and empty, but he is suddenly rejuvenated by a phone call from Penny urging him to come over. There is an implicit sense of yearning for a deeper connection and feeling of aliveness that inspires him to respond and seek her out.
He then arrives at Penny's place, a crummy room where her dansette crackles to Jimi's tune. The smell of Ambre Solaire, a tanning oil, pervades his senses as he delights in her neck, thighs, lips, and hair. The singer revels in the physical sensations of touch, taste, and smell, reinforcing the sense that he is seeking a more deeply fulfilling experience.
As dawn breaks, he feels all thoughts of sleep desert him and senses twenty minutes has brought him round to her number 9. He looks at Penny, enamoured by her beauty which reminds him of Jackson Pollock's number 5 painting. He then makes an elemental connection to the rest of the natural world, suggesting that it is only by living in harmony with nature that he can find true joy and fulfillment.

@Alexander Layko dont stop is a gem...and cplts waterfall like no one

@Eduardo Mota It's a fun experimental avant-garde song but it completely throws off the entire flow of the album and turns it into an awkward experience. Listening to it feels like a chore.

The Stone Roses had several tunes they didn't use. Even their tunes they didn't use at all sound really good. Its hard to blame them as hindsight is 20/20.
