1. Mike Skinner (born November 27, 1978), more commonly known by his stage name The Streets, is a rapper from Birmingham, England. He was born in Barnet in North London and that's where his accent, sometimes called 'Mockney' by the press, comes from. You can hear his actual accent on the start of 'Fake Streets Hats' from his album The Hardest Way To Make An Easy Living recorded in 2006. He moved to Birmingham shortly after he was born and is a Birmingham City fan. He has suffered from epilepsy since he was five.
He signed a five album record deal in 2002, and has fulfilled his contract by releasing five albums: Original Pirate Material (2002), All Got Our Runnin's (2003), A Grand Don't Come For Free (2004), The Hardest Way To Make An Easy Living (2006), Everything Is Borrowed (2008) and Computers and Blues (2011).
When playing live, Skinner is joined by Kevin Mark Trail on backing vocals, Johnny Drum Machine on drums, Wayne Fibes on guitar and bass, Chris Brown on keyboards and Magic Mike on samplers.
In January 2011, Skinner's management announced that Skinner will no longer perform as The Streets.

Frosty wind on the way to the station, footsteps and thoughts of a patient man breaking
We wait our way all our life in this world, many many days overturned and unfurled
On a rainy day making pay can be painful, afternoon is cold as eyes that dont light
Infamy Infamy (They've all) got it, Infamy
Infamy Infamy (They've all) got it, Infamy
Infamy Infamy (They've all) got it, Infamy
The cold and the little fingers burn with frost, lost in the wintery yearning lust,
When the mist is drifting and the earth is rock and the lips are cracking like this is hitting crocks ?
Fall to your knees and call to me, head spinning and wacked like a spin ball bat, thwack
Maybe came december, may i press the send button and send all pretenders to the end with their glutton
Infamy Infamy (They've all) got it, Infamy
Infamy Infamy (They've all) got it, Infamy
Infamy Infamy (They've all) got it, Infamy
Caravaggio on his last throne staggering through Rome rolled up masterpieces bagged to go
Absurd is the third learn the circle of fifths, the roman cords in every certainty hit
Note to the elves, note to self quotes that seek not to doath on the locality of hell
Recycled melodies you might never remember, free writing hell freeze to the evergreen heaven
Infamy Infamy (They've all) got it, Infamy
Infamy Infamy (They've all) got it, Infamy
Infamt Infamy (They've all) got it, Infamy
On a decaff coffee decafalon one like Hunter S. Thompson on a day off on one
Dont shoot guns in the garden, i punch things pardon, i run tings from barnett but the fun is in car sale ?
Aft daily, half cup daily, rarsclart baily funk with a large shot of baileys
I dont like people they are sometimes evil, with a Birmingham firm grip im learning em shit
Infamy Infamy (They've all) got it, Infamy
Infamy Infamy (They've all) got it, Infamy

The song Infamy by The Streets is a commentary on the concept of infamy and how it relates to personal identity. The lyrics talk about not dwelling on fights with kids and how the fish is thought ill when it smells like it is. The imagery of a frosty wind on the way to the station and footsteps and thoughts of a patient man breaking create a sense of melancholy and introspection. The song then goes on to talk about how we wait our way through life and how many days are overturned and unfurled. The line "on a rainy day making pay can be painful, afternoon is cold as eyes that don't light" suggests that even on a day when we are making money, we may still feel empty and unfulfilled.
The chorus repeats the line "infamy infamy, they've all got it" which suggests that infamy is something that everyone has in common. The following lines talk about how the cold and little fingers burn with frost, suggesting a sense of physical discomfort, and the mist is drifting, adding a sense of isolation. The line "fall to your knees and call to me, head spinning and whacked like a spin ball bat, thwack" adds a sense of confusion and disorientation. The song then goes on to talk about Caravaggio on his last throne and the absurdity of learning the circle of fifths, suggesting that even master painters and musicians can still feel lost and confused.
Overall, the song Infamy is a reflection on the universal experience of feeling lost, confused, and isolated. It suggests that even those who have achieved success and acclaim can still feel empty and unfulfilled. The lyrics are filled with vivid imagery and metaphors that convey a sense of melancholy and introspection.
