1. Mike Skinner (born November 27, 1978), more commonly known by his stage name The Streets, is a rapper from Birmingham, England. He was born in Barnet in North London and that's where his accent, sometimes called 'Mockney' by the press, comes from. You can hear his actual accent on the start of 'Fake Streets Hats' from his album The Hardest Way To Make An Easy Living recorded in 2006. He moved to Birmingham shortly after he was born and is a Birmingham City fan. He has suffered from epilepsy since he was five.
He signed a five album record deal in 2002, and has fulfilled his contract by releasing five albums: Original Pirate Material (2002), All Got Our Runnin's (2003), A Grand Don't Come For Free (2004), The Hardest Way To Make An Easy Living (2006), Everything Is Borrowed (2008) and Computers and Blues (2011).
When playing live, Skinner is joined by Kevin Mark Trail on backing vocals, Johnny Drum Machine on drums, Wayne Fibes on guitar and bass, Chris Brown on keyboards and Magic Mike on samplers.
In January 2011, Skinner's management announced that Skinner will no longer perform as The Streets.

Stirring a word the conversation absurd
Like the herbs of work their patiences and concurred
Wake up and smell the coffee
Light up and dwell the offerings
Drink with a thinking pinch
Sit with a kitchen sink
The world is outside but inside warm
Inside informal outside stormy inside normal
Back to the time skip it on it's bullocks
Rome to the oven turn it off it's on
Skin a racket fag I'm gone
What are we waiting for mate
Let's wait to the place
Cause it's all a bit late
And were all in a bit of a state
Weed makes me not want to be in new places fight it!
Stare at the same tv watching the torrent like it
The world is outside but inside warm
Inside informal outside stormy inside normal
The fossil-ed remains of locked of ancient ways
Are buried or lost in every of my mates brains
But I can't find it because they like blazing
Solving that problem brings priests and doctors and poets maybe
And hot overclocked brains
I'm not over shocked blotto or of my rock place
I got their at lunchtime
I was still their at 8
Next they were turning chairs onto the table at my place
Psychedelic cycle get it?
Ride all wet
Arrive a bit sketch
But I like bedding
The world is outside but inside warm
Inside informal outside stormy inside normal
The world is outside but inside warm
Inside informal outside stormy inside normal
The fossil-ed remains of locked of ancient ways
Are buried or lost in every of my mates brains
But I can't find it because I like blazing!
Solving that problem can be quite amazing
The world is outside but inside warm
Inside informal outside stormy inside normal
The Streets's song Outside Inside delves into the inner workings of the singer's mind as they navigate through their thoughts and the outside world. The song opens with a call to action to wake up and smell the coffee, which symbolizes the need to pay attention to one's surroundings and be present in the moment. The lyrics then take a turn towards a conversation that seems absurd or pointless, much like the herbs of work that have been patiently waiting to be used. The singer then suggests to light up and dwell on the offerings, perhaps indicating the use of marijuana as a way of shifting perspective and heightening senses. The imagery of sitting with a kitchen sink may represent a safe and familiar place to contemplate life's complexities.
The chorus of the song, "The world is outside but inside warm, Inside informal outside stormy inside normal," suggests that even though the world outside may be chaotic and unpredictable, the singer finds comfort in their own inner world that provides a sense of warmth and normalcy. The song then delves into the singer's personal experiences with drug use, as they express their desire to not want to be in new places while under the influence of weed. The lyrics suggest a struggle with anxiety and the need to stay within their comfort zone. Despite this, the singer finds solace in watching TV shows with a torrent, which could be seen as a form of escapism.
The song's title, Outside Inside, reflects the duality of the singer's experiences and their attempt to reconcile the outside world with their inner thoughts and feelings. The repetition of the line, "The fossil-ed remains of locked of ancient ways, Are buried or lost in every of my mates brains," suggests a longing for a past that is no longer accessible, either due to the passing of time or the clouded judgment of drug use. However, the singer remains hopeful that the problem can be solved, perhaps through the help of priests, doctors, poets or even their own overclocked brain.
