I've witnessed the superficial and shallow elements of society, such as people who use their looks to get ahead.

I've also seen people who use alcohol or drugs to escape their problems and live recklessly.

The lost souls and the worried
I've seen people who are struggling to find their way in life, who don't know their purpose, and who are constantly worried about their future.

The lazy and the hurried
I've seen people who are content to do nothing all day, and others who are in such a rush that they don't stop to enjoy life.

The living and the buried
This includes everyone from those who are just getting by to those who have already passed away.

The lost and the holy people
I'm acknowledging that there are people who may seem lost or disconnected from society, but that doesn't mean there's anything inherently wrong with them. They may even be holy or spiritually gifted.

You know we're running getting nowhere, people
It can feel like we're always on the move, but we're not really making any progress. We're just running in place and not reaching our goals.

I've been so far away
I've been disconnected from reality for a while, but I'm coming back to center.

Now, now I'm coming home
I'm returning to a place of balance and inner peace.

I've died and been reborn and I see
I've been through some difficult times, but they've transformed me into a stronger person who now sees things clearly.

Friends I love come and go
I've had close relationships with people that have come and gone, but I still hold them dear to my heart.

Caught up, lost in the flow
I've been swept up in the busyness and chaos of life, feeling lost and disconnected from who I am and what I want.

Seen stronger people worn out
Even some of the strongest and most capable people I know have been worn down by life's challenges.

Just trying to wait the storm out
Some people try to weather the storm by waiting it out, rather than taking action to change their situation.

Seen weaker hearts been torn outta
Conversely, some people with weaker hearts can have their lives torn apart by just one obstacle.

Sometimes people are waiting for divine guidance or a sign from a higher power to show them the way forward.

Helpless taking out shelter in love
Others may seek refuge in the love of others, feeling helpless and in need of support.

Strung out, wasted, tired and frustrated
Some people are stretched thin, by life's challenges, feeling exhausted and fed up.

Knocked down, overrated and jaded, faded, yeah!
They may also feel like they've been dealt a bad hand, that the world is against them, and that they have nothing left to give.

The drugs are getting sober
The things that people use to escape their problems are starting to wear off, and they're forced to face reality.

And soon it will be over, people
All the struggles and hard times will come to an end eventually, and we need to hold onto that hope in order to keep moving forward.

It's only getting closer, people
Despite how much we may want to avoid change, it's coming whether we like it or not. We can't stop the passage of time or the unfolding of events.
