After several months gigging around their hometown, the band began playing clubs and pubs around Ireland, playing sets mixing original material with rhythm and blues covers. Their set of fast-paced, gritty, garage rock "speed blues", which mixed the powerful approach of Dr. Feelgood with the intense rave-up format of The Yardbirds, quickly became well received by crowds across Ireland and their reputation as a live act grew.
After their North America tour they persued film acting and ultimately on 14 November 2018 the band announced they were splitting up.

You can't judge honey by looking at the bee
You can't judge a sister by looking at her brother
You can't judge a book by looking at the cover
Oh can't you see, oh, well, you misjudged me
I look like a farmer but I'm a lover
You can't judge a book by looking at the cover
You can't judge right by looking at the wrong
You can't judge one by looking at the other
You can't judge a book by looking at the cover
Oh can't you see, oh, well, you misjudged me
I look like a farmer but I'm a Lover
You can't judge a book by looking at the cover
You can't judge sugar by looking at the cane
You can't judge a woman by looking at her man
You can't judge a daughter by looking at her mother
You can't judge a book by looking at the cover
Oh can't you see, oh, well, you misjudged me
I look like a farmer but I'm a lover
You can't judge a book by looking at the cover
The Strypes' "You Can't Judge A Book By The Cover" is a blues rock cover of Willie Dixon's song from the 1960s. The song is about how appearances can be deceiving and how one should not make assumptions based on how someone or something looks. The song cleverly uses metaphors such as apples, honey, fish, and sugar to convey this message.
In the first verse, the lyrics suggest that one cannot judge the sweetness of an apple just by looking at the tree it comes from or the sweetness of honey just by looking at the bee. Similarly, one cannot judge a person by their family relation. The chorus emphasizes the message that the singer looks like a farmer but is actually a lover, showing that people cannot be judged by their physical appearance.
In the second verse, the lyrics say that judging something as right or wrong cannot be done just by comparing it to something else. The chorus is repeated, reinforcing the idea that someone's true nature cannot be assessed just by their outward appearance. The final verse suggests that one cannot judge a woman just by looking at her man or a daughter just by looking at her mother.
Overall, "You Can't Judge A Book By The Cover" is a blues rock classic that delivers a powerful message through its lyrics.

The Strypes are one of the few bands that move rock forward. Taking nothing from them, it amazes me that more of these viewers have not taken the time to watch Bo do the original. Returning to the root of any song reveals the inspiration for all those that follow and copy. The Strypes would confess that this is their best effort at a copy. No was cheated out of a comfortable life by a dishonest recording industry and a sometimes racist entertainment complex. As did Chuck Berry, Little Richard, Muddy Waters, Howlin Wolf, Louis Jordan and countless others. These artists just wanted you to dance your ads off. Go enjoy them and find out how derivative most covers are...

I am so gutted that the band disbanded. I have watched them since their very early stage.... I will dearly miss these truly talented lads. I cannot find this type of band, this level of genuine talent this day....What a shame...Thank you for the music! Bless you all, whatever the future may hold.
