Their version of Beatles' Got To Get You Into My Life, is often played on the Iain Lee show on Absolute Radio in the UK as a music-bed. Iain tends to perform karaoke over the top, either as an intro to the next call or a segué between songs. Iain also uses other examples of their work as music-beds.

If “Elenore” was written to teach the suits a lesson, he succeeded by proving them right! Possibly their best song ever.

Love Elenore and sing it with my wife when we do restaurant, wedding, party and nursing home gigs.

I always liked the Turtles, but I never took them seriously as a band. This documentary finally set me straight. I respect them now more than ever. Excellent, in-depth documentary And I love that they use the full songs rather than brief snippets. Also, I was pleased to hear that "Battle of the Bands" was inspired by Sgt. Pepper. I thought so.

Can you imagine being these guys ? Having success, but being screwed around by the record company....and when things look bleakest ? Mr. Zappa comes calling....
Then Mr. Zappa is attacked & seriously injured on stage, ruining that edition of The Mothers, essentially.....
Up, down, up, down....
And they never lost their love for music or their sense of humor !!
They truly are to be admired. Read Howard Kaylan's book, BTW !!

the last listenable version of the Mothers was with Flo and Eddie.

They were my favorite american band in 1965 as a 15 year old teenager. My uncle presented me with tickets to see the Mamas and the Papas. The ticket said the opening band would be The Turtles. I was pretty jazzed. This was in Covina California. The venue was a small theater called the The Carousel Theater. It was a 'theater in the round'. I was a budding musician and while it was my first concert, I knew they were really tight. Played all their own instruments. and all the vocals were there. Obviously they were highly rehearsed. Even the sound was well done.
