The Subtle Way got together in 2006 and after a few years of releasing 3 records (1 LP and 2 EPs), The Subtle Way traveled up to the great wet north of Seattle, Washington to record their newest album, Thus Far, The Channels Speak, with esteemed producer Casey Bates (A Skylit Drive, Chiodos, Pierce The Veil, Fear Before). This 11-song sophomore full-length album has ascended to a higher musical plane than their previous work and placed The Subtle Way in the upper stratosphere along with current heavy hitters like The Devil Wears Prada, Underoath, or Saosin. Thus Far, The Channels Speak spans a range of musicianship that is rare in the rock universe, from the synth-pop-ish "The Getaway," to the more deathcore-ish "This Ain't No Fashion Show," to the anthemic "The Archer And The Alibi." For their loyal fans, there are still plenty of future genre classics like, "Hard Wired And Inspired" and "Where Cowards Hide." Thus Far, The Channels Speak is the next step in The Subtle Ways' evolution of the traditional post-hardcore sound. The Subtle Way split up in 2011.

Knights Of Columbus
The Subtle Way Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
It's true, and your data's falty, so relax
Let loose prosthetic joy, as confetti bursts in flames
And fire smears like wet paint and I have lost my place, but
ALL ROADS LEAD TO ROME
My eyes seem to lose their shape at the very thought of you
The beat from my heart.
Underneath the waves becomes my only place to hide
A prescription of blood and water will keep me alive
But the sea is filled with cowards who knew the rules to well
To know and act are one,
So why treat them as king and pawn when
ALL ROADS LEAD TO ROME
My eyes seem to lose their shape at the very thought of you
Diving in to steal the reach from my arms
The beat from my heart.
Would you broadcast if you knew the way to Rome?
Trust me, I'm trust worthy
Will I dive so far
That my lungs collapse
And I never see light again?
Or will I
Find
Exactly what
I've been living for?
Brand new colors in shapes I've never seen
Will I hear unheard of tones in songs our vocal chords could Never free?
The lyrics to The Subtle Way's song “Knights of Columbus” talks about the journey of the singer and the challenges they face while embarking on this journey. The song starts off with a warning about how people tend to jump to conclusions before gathering all the necessary information. The singer is trying to tell the listener that their data might be flawed and to relax instead of worrying unnecessarily. The singer then proceeds to celebrate and let loose prosthetic joy as confetti bursts in flames, and fire smears like wet paint. However, amidst all this celebration, the singer loses their place, but they know that all roads lead to Rome.
The singer then talks about a particular person who seems to affect them greatly. The very thought of this person makes the singer lose their shape, and they feel like this person is stealing the reach from their arms and the beat from their heart. The singer then talks about how they find refuge underneath the waves and how they have to take a prescription of blood and water to stay alive. However, even the sea seems to be filled with cowards who know the rules too well, and the singer wonders why they treat people as king and pawn.
Overall the song is about the journey and the challenges that people face. It is a warning about how people tend to jump to conclusions without picking up all the necessary information. It also talks about the importance of finding meaning in life and not giving up.
