I got no idea what it actually was but some points I considered are -

1) First the person might be actually looking at his camera/phone screen so he may very well have seen what we did. If OP could clarify it, it'd be great.

2) Slow down at 1:17. You'll see the white 'thing' swoop down and back up between the white pole and light colored tree next to it.

3) If you look closely, the thing moves in front of the tree, not behind. So the thing is closer to camera. So the height it covered was not as much as it'd have been if it was behind the tree from our perspective. It only appears to move a great distance became of its small size. It could very well be quite closer, somewhere around where the road starts from our perspective.

4) This motion is something I've seen done by small insects and dust or small plastic bags in windy/stormy weather.

So, in my opinion, it's most likely some dust or insect closer to the camera than it appears which gave the illusion it's going up to sky as it blended in with the white clouds and went out of the frame.

Not trashing any other explanations as I'm not sure about mine itself.

What a heartwarming, cute and intelligent daughter you have :) ....it makes actually alot of sense why birds would stay low or leave during a thunderstorm/weather what ever you wanna call it. Ok, so those who are wondering what that was at 1:18, it is "half" of a lightning bolt. You are lucky to get this on camera for usually they don't pick it up and are rare to see with the naked eye. Basically what happens is two lines of static electricity build up, one from the ground and one from the sky. If and when they touch, the electricity from the cloud will go through the two lines and form what we know as a lightning bolt. In this case the two didn't meet or only one formed because there was no bolt after.

@@professorx3060 Honestly coming back to this, I'm not sure that's actually what it is. I've gotten a lot further along with my weather hobby and I'm not 100% sure that this is a lightning bolt trying to form. Watching it back slowly, the object passes in front of the tree, and isn't really a line. If I knew where the camera person was looking, it would be easier to tell if it was an artifact or not. If they were looking at the storm and not at the screen, the wouldn't have seen it happen unless it wasn't an artifact. In this case it could be something like a lens flare. There's still a chance it could be lightning forming, but again I'm not sure.

After I figured out how you slow the picture down, this is the conclusion I pretty much made also. At first, I was on the side that it could actually be an orb or an angel, but after I saw it in slow-motion I could see that it was in front of the pole and trees, not behind them, and a lot closer than it appeared. Then it did look closer to a dust particle or a bug or something. "Update"... It still looks like it could possibly be an orb after watching it multiple times! Too small and close to be an angel though. Also make more sense on the side of it being an orb since there was also a lightning storm going on, which makes it easier and more likely for orbs to form.

I saw it! It looked like what they call a "step leader". That is the part of a lightning strike that comes up from the ground and connects with the charge that is coming down from the cloud. When those two actually make contact with each other that's when lightning strikes. Look it up for yourself! Great video! Thanks for sharing it!

That was an orb moving at very very high speeds. I've had lots of experience and interaction with various types of orbs. This one seemed very unique in it's very large size and speed. I believe it was just having lots of fun in the electrical storm.

My dad dated a women named Linda. When Linda was young she flipped her car a few times and during the investigation the cops noticed something weird on the side of the car. They asked Linda if she had a passenger with her and she told them see was by herself. Slow playback speed to .05. Then start to watch from 1:17 and focus on the mid-left side of screen. Look at the tree to the left of the white tower. Something shoots up into the cloud crazy fast. You may have to play it few times but once you have seen it you can't miss it. Like a white ball moving so fast it leaves readers in the vid. Personally I think it's a very cool video.

pro tip: it's lightning. lightning sometimes has the effect when it strikes the ground to look like it's coming up from the ground. the bolt in the video was obscured by the clouds slightly, so the light from the bolt looks like a light travelling upwards.

I took frame by frame shots of it and its definitely an energy orb, it shoots out from the transformer pole diagonally down into the bush tgen straight up on a slught left angel into tbe clouds, its a spherical light white blue hue orb moving at speeds so fast it looks like a tubular streak.
Those orbs are the true angel energies. Very blessed to have be gifted the chance to see one during the day like this.

Slow the speed down to 1/4 this DOES come down from the cloud's from behind the white pole then moves between the pole supports Then is goes straight and curves around to the middle of the tree and up through the centre of the tree. Not a bug , not a mirror reflection, not even a Peregrine Falcon is that fast, not CGI or editing.. It's a Flying Rod ...look it up.. You can catch it's shape as it heads back up from the tree.
