Yeah it's getting complicated
Oh yeah, oh yeah
You're trying too hard to live up to your history
But it's getting complicated
If you know what I'm talking about
Tv's been pouring out some shit
All because I'm talking about those stories that you made up
Stories that you've made up yourselves
Well it's so hard to believe in it
You've been getting to grips with what this means to me
Well you've been working your ass off for an industry
Where you know what you want but you don't know how to get it?
Well raise the alarm
Tv's been pouring out some shit
Yeah it's so hard to believe in it
All because I'm talking about those stories that you made up
Stories that you've made up yourselves
Well it's so hard to believe in it
You've been getting to grips with what this means to me
Well you've been working your ass off for an industry
Where you know what you want but you don't know how to get it?
Well raise the alarm
Just try to tell it like it is
Just try to tell it like it is
The lyrics to "Raise The Alarm" by The Sunshine Underground discuss the idea of losing one's grip on reality and struggling to live up to past expectations. The song highlights the difficulty in believing in the stories and information presented by media outlets, as they are often based on things that have been made up by those in power. The chorus urges listeners to raise the alarm and try to tell the truth, rather than continuing to perpetuate falsehoods and misinformation.
The first verse describes the complicated nature of trying to maintain a certain image or reputation. The second verse directly addresses the problems with the media, noting that it can be so hard to believe in what they are saying because of the stories they have created. The bridge encourages listeners to take action and tell the truth, rather than giving in to manipulation.
Overall, "Raise The Alarm" serves as a call to action for social and political awareness. It urges listeners to question the narratives presented to them and strive for authenticity in their thoughts and actions.
